EZ and Letty were hanging around the clubhouse the next afternoon when everything went down.
"Turn on the news!" Riz stomped in and barked at Chucky, who was behind the bar.
"What's up, brother?" Bishop rose from the small table he was seated at, playing cards with Taza.
EZ and Letty stayed quiet in their seats at the bar while Chucky rushed to do as he was told. He switched on the TV that hung from the walk above the bar.
"Just fucking watch," Riz jerked his head in the direction of the TV.
EZ paid very close attention to the CNN breaking news report.
A female reporter was broadcasting live from in front of the Galindo estate. Behind her, at least six police cars, American and Mexican, were lined up the driveway.
"A little over two hours ago, Miguel Galindo, a prominent city resident and businessman, was arrested in a joint operation conducted by Mexican and American law enforcement on behalf of the American government. No charges have been filed or announced as of right now, but Mr. Galindo is being held without bail."
"What the fuck happened?" EZ played dumb and went looking for information that he already had.
"His wife turned him in," Riz replied. "I called Alvarez, and he said within an hour of Galindo being arrested, his kid somehow reappeared with his mother."
"She traded Galino for the kid," Bishop correctly.
"What the fuck do we do now?" Gilly asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"There isn't shit we can do." Bishop shook his head. "The gun business came at the right fucking time. I'm gonna step outside and call Alvarez. I need to know how to handle this with the other charters."
At that moment, EZ's phone vibrated as he got a text from Emily. He smirked to himself. Because Adelita had returned her kid without his help, he didn't need to make a second visit to see his ex. He was free to tell her to fuck off.
*Miguel was arrested, and cops are starting to leave. When are you coming over?*
**I'm not. Consider this payback for what you did while I was locked up. Lose this number.**
After hitting send, he added Emily's number to his block list. Before he could put the phone away, he received another text, this time from his handler.
***You held up your end of the deal. I'm holding up mine. Your official release papers are waiting in your mailbox.***
