The plane ride was fairly short, which she was thankful for. When she arrived home it was only 2:30. Sofia went to the place she had missed the most. The desolate bench in the hidden park. She sat and enjoyed the sounds and smells of nature. She let her mind drift off and eventually found herself thinking back to Meadow View, thinking of Sydney and Sara, of Brad, and most of all of her dance with Anthony. She shook her head and laughed, of course she was thinking of him he was attractive and smart, but she doubted they actually had anything in common. She stood, stretched, then left.
When Sofia arrived home, her house was empty. "As usual." She mumbled. Sofia cooked some food, but nothing tasted quite as good as what she had eaten with Brad earlier in the day.
Sofia woke the next morning and went on her morning jog. When she arrived at school she went directly to her Literature class and sat down to catch up on what she had missed the day before. When the bell rung she was actually almost caught up.
During lunch she spent part of the time in study hall, then went to the cafeteria. Alana motioned her over, but she instead made her way to Matt and Elliot. She enjoyed lunch with them and they chatted. She told them about her trip causing them to ask if she wanted to for sure attend that university. Sofia nodded. "The town, the people, the school it's all great."
"I'm glad you finally figured out your future." Matt laughed.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sofia glared.
Elliot laughed. Matt smiled. "I'm just kidding."
Sofia smiled and almost instantly they were talking happily again, she had to marvel on this fact, she had never been able to do that with her other friends. Sofia glanced over at them and found them staring at her, whispering. Sofia couldn't help but roll her eyes. Then, her mind couldn't help but drift back to the night of the annual, and of the whispers that filled her ears as she danced with Anthony.
"What?" Matt asked.
Sofia continued to stare off into space.
"Ooo, hit her!" Elliot said giddly.
Matt punched her in the arm.
Sofia's head snapped to look at him, then she kicked him hard in the leg. "Why'd you punch me?"
"I was talking to you!" Matt said angrily.
"About what?" Sofia asked, seeming to forget the whole scene from a moment ago.
"I was wondering why you were staring at nothing, about to drown us in drool."
"Oh ha ha ha, I don't drool you idiot."
"Sure you don't." Matt said sarcastically.
Sofia made a face at Matt, causing Matt and Elliot to laugh and her to roll her eyes.
"So what were you thinking about?" Elliot asked.
"Nothing." Sofia mumbled.
"Nothing." Matt mocked. "We know you were thinking of something, you were drolling a river twice the size of the Nile!"
Sofia sat back and held her head, then she sighed. "I was thinking about the University."
Matt's mouth gaped. "I told you!"
Elliot frowned. "Yeah."
"Told you what?" Sofia asked.
"That you met a man." Matt said poking at her.
"A man?" Sofia asked, taken aback.
"Oh don't even. The question is who is it." Matt looked at her quizzically. His eyes lit up. "I bet you fell for Brad! That guy you were telling us about!"
