Sofia woke up in an alleyway. She sat up, but felt a horrible pain in her stomach. She looked down and saw blood. She managed to pull herself up and began to try to find her way home. She stumbled through the empty streets and then down the hallways. In her apartment she searched for an antibiotic and gauze. She doctored up her wound, then walked outside. She wanted to drive, but knew the pill she'd just taken wasn't meant to be driven on. She began to walk towards the hospital. As she passed the University she collided with Anthony.

"Miss Evans, please, at the very least watch where you're going." He glared.

Sofia was very drowsy and her sight was going in and out.

"Miss Evans?" He called from the entrance to the campus. "I hope you aren't planning on skipping class. Come on, we're both late."

Sofia turned and tried to speak, but instead she lost consciousness once again.

When she woke next, Sofia found herself in a hospital bed. She tried to open her eyes, but couldn't move. She heard Anthony talking to the doctor.

"An infection?" Anthony asked.

"Yes, it looks like she was cut with a dirty knife." The doctor answered.

"How bad is it?"

"We aren't sur-"

"Excuse me, I teach Psychology. I want an answer!"

"Look, she got cut over 12 hours before she came into the hospital and that isn't good. Not to mention the fact she moved around which helped the infection spread. We have to hope it doesn't reach her heart in the blood stream before the antibiotics take. But without knowing what she took and when we couldn't give her something real strong. It's up to her and her body to do the rest."

Anthony looked at her. "She's strong willed, I'm sure she'll win."

Sofia attempted to speak, what came out was a pitiful sound you could barely call a whimper. The doctor moved to her side and felt her pulse. "How are you feeling?"

Sofia managed to turn her head. She tried to speak, but no sound came. She closed her lips tight and turned her head away. If there was one thing she couldn't stand, it was looking and feeling weak.

The doctor continued checking machines and adjusting their settings. He turned and walked out.

Anthony sat in a chair next to her and took her hand. "You made quite a scene."

Sofia turned her head and stared at him.

He stared into her eyes. "I had to cancel class and everything." He stared for a little while, then his expression changed to one of realization. "I forgot to tell them that class was off!" He picked up his phone and stepped into the hallway. He came back after a few minutes.

Sofia looked at him, she did her best to display a question in her eyes. Why are you still here with me? But if he saw it in her eyes, he ignored it.

"You'd better hurry and get better. I expect you in class Monday." He laughed.

Sofia offered a smile then turned to look at the ceiling. She shut her eyes for a few moments then turned back to him.

He looked confused but said nothing. "Why don't you tell me what happened? How'd you manage to cut yourself so deep with a dirty knife?"

Sofia looked away, a tired look in her eyes.

Anthony looked upset. "You have to tell me! We need to figure out what happened to help you!"

Sofia turned and stared defiantly into his eyes.
