Five Years Later

Sofia hurried around putting the finishing touches on the party she was planning. She had pizza, a homemade cake, and lot's of decorations. She turned to look out on the fields, the patio was a beautiful place to enjoy parties, guests would arrive soon. Only a few little children and their parents would be there. She saw a horse riding up from the distance, it pulled to a stop and Anthony got down, he lifted down a young boy.

"That's my champion! Sofia you should've seen Thomas guiding the horse, I've never met a kid with such a knack for horseback riding!"

Sofia frowned. "You know I don't like you doing something so dangerous with my little boy." Sofia said.

Anthony swung Thomas up causing him the young boy to start giggling. "You know I'd never do anything that I thought would put our little Thomas in danger." Anthony planted a kiss on Sofia's lips.

Sofia smiled. "I know, but Thomas needs to get ready for the party." Sofia lifted Thomas off Anthony's shoulders. Sofia took Thomas upstairs and picked up the outfit she had picked out.

"Hands up little lady!" Thomas held up his hands in the shape of a gun.

Sofia held up her hands. "Don't shoot me cowboy! Or else I'll have to...." She grabbed for Thomas. "Tickle you to death!" They fell down to the floor laughing.

"Hey! What's going on here?" Anthony appeared in the doorway. "Having fun without me I see. You're in trouble now!" He tickled both Thomas and Sofia. They fell over each other laughing.

Eventually they stood and dressed Thomas.

"I love you." Thomas threw his arms around Sofia and Anthony.

"We love you too son." Anthony said.

The three of them walked down. Guests arrived and a young girl appeared in the door to the patio.

"There's the birthday girl!" Anthony said.

Sofia turned, her eyes sparkled. "Margaret! There you are."

"Mommy!" The young girl ran and hugged Sofia around the the waist.

Sofia kneeled down and gave the girl a kiss. "Come on, enjoy your party with your friends."

After the party, the last guest left and Sofia smiled as she looked out at her husband and two children, still sitting outside at a table. The cake had gone so fast she hadn't seen any of them get a piece. She picked up a separate cake she had baked just for them and walked outside.

"I saw you three didn't get any cake, so I baked you're dad's favorite." She kissed Anthony, then cut into the vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, a dessert she reserved only for the family.
