Chapter Twenty-Five: A Strange Invitation

"Anthony hurry up!" Sofia called from the front door.

"I'm coming, hold on!" He came and held the door for her. "After you."

Sofia smiled. They arrived at the doctor's office and walked inside.

"Miss Evans, it's good to see you again." The secretary smiled. "It'll be about five minutes."

About five minutes later, the nurse appeared from the back. "Miss Evans."

Sofia and Anthony walked into the back and Sofia got on the bed. She smiled as she massaged her baby bump, it looked bigger while she was on her back.

The doctor came in. "How are you feeling today Sofia?"

"I'm feeling good."

"That's good, are you ready?"

"Yes." Sofia smiled and lifted her shirt.

The doctor wiped that weird cream on her stomach then began the ultrasound. Sofia watched the screen and smiled as the baby showed.

"Do you want to know the gender?" The doctor asked.

"So soon?" Sofia asked.

"Yes, it's very cooperative. Would you like to know?"

Sofia looked at Anthony and said. "Yes."

"You'll become the mother of a beautiful baby girl. Would you like pictures?"

Sofia felt herself flush with happiness. "A girl. A girl Anthony! Yes I would love pictures. Pictures of our little Margaret."

"Margaret?" Anthony asked.

"Yes, Margaret, like your mother." She smiled and Anthony leaned in to kiss her.

They walked out of the doctor looking at the photos of their little girl together.

As they passed a baby store she dragged Anthony inside. "I want this one for her to come home in." She picked up a frilly pink dress. "Oooo no this one." She picked up a red dress. "No! This one!" She picked up a blue jumpsuit with pink flowers.

Anthony laughed as she was already moving to the next rack. "Slow down. There will be plenty of time to shop for our child."

Sofia pouted. "I wanna shop now."

"You'll want to shop more later. Now come on, we have a wedding to plan."

Sofia smiled. "You're right, but I'm getting these outfits anyway." She checked out and exited the store. "So," She said as they walked down the street. "How's your job going to work?"

Anthony sighed. "I'll start teaching again in the next school year, I couldn't restart in the middle of the year."

Sofia frowned. "So, I only have you another three months?"

He laughed. "You're going to have me the rest of your life."

Sofia kissed him, then her phone buzzed.

Sofia, come meet me at my house. I need to talk to you today. Brittney

Sofia stared at her phone, Brittney? The girl Anthony took to the Christmas party?

"I'll see you at home, I have something I have to do." Sofia kissed Anthony.

"Okay I'll see you there." He walked away.

Sofia walked to Brittney's house, when she arrived, her breath caught. On the outskirts of town, Brittney lived in a huge mansion with breathtaking gardens. Sofia knocked on the front door and was let in by a young girl in a generic maid uniform.
