Piece by piece I fell far from the tree. I will never leave her like you left me and she will never have to wonder her worth because unlike you I'm going to put her first. And you know, he'll never walk away, he'll never break her heart. He'll take care of things, he'll love her. And piece by piece he'll restore my faith that a man can be kind and a father should be great.

She can still see his face and hear the anger in his voice all those months ago when he told her to get an abortion and called their baby a 'mistake'. She can still remember feeling like someone had ripped her heart out as she watched all her dreams of being a family shatter in an instant. This wasn't how she imagined her first child would come into the world but when she glances down at the newborn curled up on her chest, she can't help but feel like this is exactly where she is meant to be.
'So have you decided what you're going to do about Luke? Do you think you're going to let him know that you've had the baby?' Dallas asks.
'I've already messaged him... Mom didn't think I should but I wanted to give him one last chance, not for him but for her.' Demi admits.
'If anything you can say you tried. When she's all grown up and she asks about him you can tell her that you tried.' Dallas says.
'I just don't understand how anyone can walk away from this... I mean look at her, she's perfect.' Demi almost whispers running her finger down the baby's cheek.
'She's so much better off without him if he doesn't want to be involved... Have you thought of a name?' Dallas asks.
'Mmm... I think I've settled on Connie. Connie Grace Lovato.' Demi replies.

'What are your plans today? Where are you going?' Dianna asks as she watches Demi put Connie's shoes on.
'I don't know. Tom has arranged something. Nothing too full on though, today is just for me to slowly start introducing Coco to him.' Demi replies.
'Are you sure this is definitely the right time? How long have you two been together now?' Dianna asks causing Demi to sigh.
'I'm positive. I'm not jumping into this, mom. I have thought long and hard about how and when to do this. I feel like for the past eight months I've been living a double life.' Demi replies.
'Demi knows what she's doing, mom. You know that she'd never do anything that she didn't think was right for Connie.' Dallas says as the doorbell rings causing Demi to smile.
'Do you want to come open the door to mommy's friend?' Demi asks putting her hand out to Connie. The little girl immediately takes her hand and they make their way out to the front door. Opening the front door, she smiles as she sees Tom standing clutching a bouquet of flowers and a smaller bouquet of flowers.
'Hi...' She says smiling as he holds out the larger bouquet of flowers towards her.
'Hey, you... These are for you.' He replies.
'Thank you.' She says softly. She takes the flowers from him and bends down to Connie's level as the little girl cuddles into her leg.
'Coco, do you want to meet mommy's friend Tom?' Demi asks smiling. She lifts the little girl onto her hip and stands back up to Tom's level.
'Coco, this is Tom. Tom, this is Coco.' Demi says.
'Hello, Coco... I didn't know what to bring you but your mommy told me you love to smell her flowers so I thought I'd get you your own special little bunch.' Tom says holding the smaller bouquet out towards the little girl who giggles.
'What do you say?' Demi asks.
'Tanks.' Connie almost whispers.

'Who do you think she'll be more excited to see?' Demi asks smiling as they pull into the driveway outside her parents' house.
'Definitely you.' Tom replies and Demi shakes her head.
'You're her favourite person.' Demi says and Tom smiles.
'But you're her mom and nothing beats that.' Tom replies. They both get out the car and immediately make their way towards the front door.
'Tommy!' Connie squeals as the front door swings open and the little girl instantly runs towards Tom who bends down and lifts her into his arms.
'Told you.' Demi says smiling. Throughout her pregnancy she was terrified that Connie would grow up without a father figure, without a dad so to see Tom with her means everything.
'We love mommy, don't we Coco.' Tom says wrapping his free arm around Demi as Connie grins.
'Love Tommy.' Connie replies causing them all to laugh.
