The rest of the weekend passed uneventful, but Kara just couldn't get the dream out of her head. Something about it just felt, so real, like it wasn't a dream at all. Deciding that she had thought about it enough though, she trys to push it aside as she goes down stairs to grab something to eat before school. When she enters the kitchen however, she sees a note on the counter, in her mother's hand writing, it read;
Decided to go on a spur of the moment trip to France, be back in a couple days, don't forget we have that party at your father's work Friday.
That was it, no "i love you's" or "don't throw any party's," just be back in a couple days and don't forget your father's business thing. Crumbling the paper up and throwing it away, Kara grabs a banana from the fruit bowl and then leaves for school. On her way there she starts to wonder how her mother would feel if she ever came down stairs in the morning to find a note from her that said be back in a couple days. Honestly though, her mother would actually have to be home for more then a day or two to know she was gone.
Walking into the school, she stops at her locker, but instead of opening it, she looks down the hallway toward where Nate's locker was. He was laughing bat something Simon said, and she couldn't help but notice how cute she thought she looked when he full heartedly laughed at something. Sighing as she turns back to her locker, spinning the lock to do the combination, she thinks about how she wished he didn't have to go camping with his cousin this weekend so that they could get to their date a lot sooner.
"Hey," Vicky says leaning on the locker beside Kara's, "so I was thinking, how important is geometry, like am I really ever going to have to know what a hippopotamus is?"
Kara laughs, "it's a hypotamus, you idiot." Vicky smiles, and Kara instantly knows that Vicky knows exactly what a hypotamus is.
Sighing, she turns to her best friend, "they're gone again," answering the question she knows Vicky wanted to know but would never asks. "Left a note on the kitchen counter."
Vicky frowns for a bit, "that sucks, I'm sorry." Then after a second passes she smiles again, "hey, do you want to spend the night at my house?"
Kara smiles too, feeling better, "yeah, are your parents okay with that?"
Vicky gives her an "are you serious look," "of course, they would let you move in if they could." She tells her and both girls laugh as the bell rings. Kara grabs the rest of her books, and they head to class as Vicky recants a story from the night before about some reality tv show she started watching. As Vicky talks though, she isn't really paying attention when she catches a glimpse of the girl from the Friday before. Just like that, the memory of her dream comes back.

Walking into Vickys house, Vicky instantly drops her book bag on the floor by the door. "I'm home!" She yells and her mother walks out of her at home office to great her daughter, "and I brought Kara!"
Kara bends down to pick Vickys back pack up, smiling when Mrs. Jeleski walks into the room with an equally bright smile. "Kara, I always love having you over, your welcome anytime."
Vicky walks back from the kitchen, holding a bag of chips, "that's good, because her parents are out of town again." She tells her mother, mouth full of chips.
Her mother nods, "well I would perfer that you stay here until your parents get back then," she says looking at Kara, not liking the fact that he's parents just leave her alone all the time, but she doesn't show it.
Kara nods, not really wanting to go home anyway, "okay," this wasn't an unusual arrangement though. Kara often spent the night at the Jeleskis when her parents were out of town and Vickys parents knew. This being a regular occurrence, Kara had enough of her clothes stored in Vickys bedroom to not have to go home and retrieve any.
