After cleaning out her locker and meeting her parents in the office, they then left Grandview high and made their way over to Williams, where they were going to enroll her. Kara had never actually been in Williams High before, she had only ever been to their football or soccer field. The hallways were empty as they walked into the school, Kara taking the building in, it not really being what she was expecting. It seemed competitively normal, not run down and falling apart like the rumors at Grandview had suggested. Williams being I'm the poor district, she had expected it to reflect that aspect of it's location. It actually looked to be better well kept and nicer then Grandview it's self. Not as fancy as Grandview Prep, but there were several places for students to sit, and some of the class rooms had glass walls, with curtains obscuring the view of the hallways.  Her parents knew exactly where they were going as they walked toward the office located in the center of the building. The secretary smiled when they walked in, "Mr. And Mrs. Thomas, how are you doing today." He greeted them, Kara started to wonder how often they must come to the school for the secretary to remember them, when there was approximately fifteen hundred students attending Williams.  Then she remembered that she had five siblings ahead of her that had either attended or were currently attending  Williams, and the idea of the schools secretary knowing who her parents were wasn't a surprise.

Her mother smiles, "we're hear to enroll our daughter, Karina Thomas."

Kara speaks up, "can you make sure that it says on the paper work that I prefer to be called Kara." Her mother glances back at her for a moment.

"Yes, uh, why don't you go sit down while we talk to Mr. Unis," her father tells her and Kara walks over to the chairs on the he other side of the room. Her parents still seemingly not comfortable with her name preference, they had been hoping it would be something she would forget or get past. It was her name though, it was what she had gone by for the last ten years. It may have started out as someone else name, but it was her name now.

Mr. Unis, the schools secretary looks at Kara as she sits down, now picking at a loose string on her jeans, bored and wishing she had her phone. Then he glances back at her parents, "yes, I can get that paper work for you right now." He had seen everything in the news, or at least everything that the news had known. He wanted to ask questions, comment on their miracle, but knew that would be unprofessional.  So instead of asking how she could have been just miles away and they had never once found her, he swivled around in his chairs and got the transfer paperwork out of the filing cabinet for them to fill out and to enroll her.

The numb feeling had returned, this morning when she had woken up, and Kara felt like maybe this was better. The anxiety she had felt the day before about leaving her school in exchange for a new one, where everyone no doubtedly knew about her life story, probably more than her, was a lot. So she let the numb feeling wash over her this morning, and was partially Hoping that it would stay for a bit.

As her parents filled out paperwork, she thought about how her siblings had all gone here, meaning that not only would she have the story of her kidnapping following her around, but the legacy of her family as well. At least Rose was still in middle school, so she wouldn't have to deal with her everyday. That was seemingly the only bright side though. Here parents now finished with the paperwork walked back to her, "alright, you ready to go?" Kara nods standing up, "you going to start Wednesday, to give them enough time to get your transcripts and make your schedule." Her father explains, as she follows both of them out of the building.

After dropping her mother off at home, her father drove to his apartment that was in the center of Grandview, known as Grand junction. "Your grandparents are really excited to get to spend some one on one time with you."
