Today was the day, Kara thought to herself when she woke up. The day she had been looking forward to since the seventh grade, and yet now that it's come, she didn't know how she felt. She liked Nate, she's had a crush on Nate since the moment she'd met him, but ever since simmon kissed her, she felt confused. She knew both of them for same amount of time practically. The first conversation Nate and her had, he had talked to her because he thought she was one of Simmons sisters. He had Been surprised to learn that Vicky was his only sister, with the amount of time Kara spent at Simmons house. Simmon had always been there for her, he listened to her, he hung out with her when Vicky couldn't, he was like her second best friend. They joked and played games and after he'd kissed her, she thought about how Sophie was right, and he was kind of cute. She had never thought of him as an option though, Because he was Vickys little brother. Now, she just felt confused, because Nate was cute, and sweet and funny, and they were both great guys.

Kara walks out onto the track where they were having gym class that day. She hadn't made any friends in this class yet since it was all sixth graders and she was in seventh grade. She walks over to the other students, and starts stretching, they were supposed to run the mile today. "Hey," she stands up when a boy calls out to her, as he jogs over. He starts stretching beside her. "You Kara, one of Simmons sisters right?"
Kara laughs, "you got the name right, but no, simmon only had one sister, that's Vicky my best friend."
He laughs too and Kara thinks about how she likes his laugh, and he was kind of cute. She had never really liked a boy before, so this was a new experience for her. "Oh, sorry, I guess I just assumed because your always at his house and he talks about you a lot."
She shakes her head, "no it's fine, what's your name?"
He smiles and her stomach does this weird summersault thing, "I'm Nate, one of Simmons new friends." Just then the coach blew the whistle for them to line up and start the mile. Both a little disappointed that they couldn't talk to each other anymore.

"Hey fire starter, you excited for your date?" Saddie asks, walking into the kitchen to grab an apple. She had slept through breakfast. Kara shrugs, sitting at the counter, writing down math equations on a notebook paper and then solving them. Saddie leans over the counter to look at what her younger sister is doing. "Why are you working on math? You haven't even started school yet?"
Kara doesn't look up, "sometimes when I'm stressed or overwhelmed by something I like to do math. I find it calming, math is always the same, equations don't change and it's constant you know." She writes down another random equation before quickly solving it.
Saddie looks at her a moment, contemplating if she wants to play the role of big sister or if she would rather go binge watch YouTube videos on her phone in her room. Sighing she sits down across from Kara. "Okay, what's on your mind, are you nervous for your date?"
Kara sets her pencil down, looking up at Saddie, "no, yes, I don't know, I like Nate, I've liked him since the seventh grade, but..." She trails off and Saddie nods now understanding what was going on.
"He's not the boy who kissed you in the back yard, and now your confused right?" She finishes for her and Kara looks back down.
"I don't know what to do, I've never thought about simmon that way before, but now I can't stop thinking about him, and I feel like I'm betraying Nate, because even though this will be our first date, neither of us have ever liked anyone else or dated anyone else, it was if we were practically dating already, it just wasn't official." Kara explains and lays her head down on her crossed arms that were resting bon the counter top. "I'm just so confused."
