Friday evening, Kara found her self sitting on the bleachers of Williams High, watching the football game with her family. All the Thomas, with the exception of Eliza who was at home with her family and Amy who was working a late shift, were sitting on the bleachers, watching Saddie cheer. "Woo, let's go Strikers!" People cheered as they got another touchdown. Kara stayed quiet, feeling weird about the idea of cheering on her schools biggest rival.
"What, footballs not your thing?" Matt says sitting next to her.
Kara turns her head to look at him, "I like football, it's just, Williams our rival team."
Matt nods in understanding, "well I hear that starting Monday, it'll be your team." She frowns when he tells her this, not wanting to think about how she'll have to go to a new school. "You know, Williams isn't that bad, I think if you give it a chance you'll like it."
"Yeah, but my friends don't go to Williams." She tells him and he nods again, and she decides to change the subject. "Do you guys go to every football game just to watch Saddie cheer?"
Matt shrugs, "not really, only when dads in town. He spends about two weeks of every month in another country with his jobs partner companies, making sure their running smoothly. So when he comes home, it's all about family time." He then looks over at their parents who were laughing at something one of them said, getting along seemenly for the first time in years. "Although I overheard mom and Dad talking, by the way there are virtually no secrets in our house, anyway, dad said that he's going to ask his boss to not have to travel so much, I guess with you being back, he wants to be home more often now."
Kara doesn't respond, just looks back at the game, thinking about how her family seems she learns every day, just how much her disappearance messed up her family. Rose leans over to their parents who were sitting on a row below them. "Hey, I'm gonna go sit with Jasmine."
She starts to stand up but her father reaches out, gravy her hand. "Wait no, we're spending time as a family, you can hang out with your friends anytime."
"But dad-" she starts to protests.
"The only buts, I wanna hear is yours sitting back down." He tells her, watching her carefully as she frowns, sitting back down, arms crossed.
Kara smiles slightly to herself, enjoying seeing Rose not getting her way. She knows it's wrong about being happy that her sister isn't, and yet, after what happened before they left, she found her self not caring rather it was wrong or not. She might even have felt bad if Rose hadn't "accidentally" spilt her strawberry soda all over her white long sleeved Tee. She had to change and shower before they could leave, and Rose claimed it was an accident, that she tripped. Their parents believed her, so Rose had no repercussions. To Kara, Rose having to sit here without getting her way seemed like great Karma to her.
"What are you so happy about," Rose says bitterly, looking across Charlie at Kara.
Kara shakes her head, "oh nothing," smile still on her face.
Rose's anger grows and she opens her mouth to say something when Charlie interupts her. "Hey dad can we get some concessions?"
"Oh I want popcorn!" Sophie says excitedly, sitting next to their father.
He looks over at their mother before looking at Charlie, "yeah, I'll go with you and we'll bring back enough for everyone." He stands up to go get concessions with Charlie.
"Can I come too?" Kara asks standing up, wanting to stretch her legs, and growing bored of sitting on the bleachers.
Her father goes to answer her when her mother abruptly says "no!" They all look to their mother, startled by the outburst. She then looks at her family, "I'm sorry, I know it's not rational, but it's just the last time you went with your father to get concessions..." She trails off and their father frowns.
