Once we got to my house, the house phone started ringing. Naoko helped me to my room, and my mom went to answer the phone. After Naoko had set my stuff next to my duffel bag, my mom came into the room.

"It's for you," she handed me the phone.

"Thanks. Hello?"

"Hey kiddo, how are you feeling?"

"Hey Coach. I'm feeling better now."

"That's good. Hey, just wanted to let you know, they pushed the training camp back a day because of some issue they had with reserving the gym, so it'll be from this Tuesday, till next Tuesday instead of Monday."

"Sounds good. Thanks for letting me know."

"Yeah no problem, you rest up."

"I will. Hey, does that mean school tomorrow?"

"School but no practice."

"Okay, bye." I hung up the phone and handed it back to my mom. "School but no practice." She nodded and went back into the other room. I got up from where I was sitting and went over to my duffel bag. I opened it and carefully put my new binders and boxers in an inner pocket.

"Hey..." Naoko said nervously as he sat on the edge of my bed. "I wasn't trying to start anything at the hospital, I'm sorry."

"Naoko." I sighed. "I really don't want to have to choose between my best friend and my boyfriend. Please don't make me do that." I pleaded.

"I know, I know. I'm sorry. But we all know who you'd choose," he murmured.

"Yes, we do." I said quietly. "You should go home, your mom is probably worried." I went over to Naoko.

"Holy shit you're right," he got up. "I will see you tomorrow. Love you," he tightly hugged me and went to the door. "Happy Birthday Ko."

"Happy Birthday, love you too." I gently closed the door as he left. I locked the door, backing away slowly. I kept walking backwards until I reached the wall. I just sank down, pulling my knees to my chest. I buried my head in my knees, just letting the tears flow. I could hear soft knocking on my door.

"Koshi honey?"

"I'm fine," I covered my mouth, trying not to make any noise.

"Okay... I'm out here when you want to talk..." I could hear her footsteps descending down the hall. I crawled over to my closet and closed the door, just laying on the floor. I could feel myself dozing off. I woke up sometime later to Daichi shaking my shoulder.

"Dai?" I sat up.

"What's wrong?"
"H-How did you get in here?" I sniffed, wiping my cheeks.

"Your mom gave me a key." He sat on the floor next to me. I laid my head in his lap, letting my body relax. "What's going on?" He pulled me fully onto his lap.

"I... Daichi, don't make me choose. Cause you know who I'll choose."

"Yes I know. I don't want to make you choose. But I know that's not what this is about." He ran his fingers through my outgrown hair.

"She could've lost me. She was so crushed over losing my dad to that infection." I stared blankly at an old drawing on my wall. "Daichi, I don't think you understand that what I did today was so stupid, I wasn't even thinking about my mom when I kept going deeper. That was selfish."

"No it wasn't. Nobody could've known that was going to happen."

"But it did! I almost killed myself! And for what?" I got up and went over to my window.
