6 MONTHS LATER...

Tuesday
"It's a wonderful Tobin Tuesday!" Emily Sonnett yelled as she walked into the conference room where the team was having breakfast, preparing for their first game in the group stage today. The team chuckled at Emily's antics and continued eating. Tobin and Alex sat together at the table and nodded to each other silently agreeing that it was time.
6 months ago they talked about coming out to the world. But then they quickly agreed that then they may not get a lot of time together so they decided to wait. But they did think it was a good idea to tell the team. Ash and Ali had come out, Hope and Kelley had come out and JJ and Press finally came out to the team so they figured it was a good time. Besides, they knew they would be supported and everyone would be more than happy that the two got together as that is all anyone ever seems to talk about sometimes.
Andy and Theo walked into the conference room together, holding hands. Andy was finally able to be off of her crutches and begin to walk normally again but still obviously needed the brace. Tobin and Alex walked over to Jill and the staff. "Hey coaches." Tobin and Alex greeted. "We have something to say to the team. Can we have the floor?" Tobin asked.
"Sure thing ladies." Jill said, smiling. Tobin and Alex took deep breaths. The two walked to the front of the room.
"Hey ladies! Attention!" Jill yelled to get everyone's attention. Tobin and Alex silently thanked Jill. Everyone turned to look at the front of the room to Alex and Tobin.
"Morning girls. So um Tobin and I have something to tell you guys." Alex said. She glanced at Tobin. She reached over and grabbed Tobin's hand, giving it a squeeze.
"Um we, for the past 6 months, have been dating." Tobin said. Every person in the room went wide eyed. It was silent for a few seconds before Pinoe stood up.
"I fucking knew it!" Pinoe yelled and smiled, pointing at the two, making everyone laugh.
"About fucking time." Sam and Kristie said at the same time.
Carli got up from her chair and walked up to Tobin and Alex and gave them each a hug. "I'm so happy for you guys."
"Thanks Car." Tobin said. Soon, the whole team and coaching staff had gotten up and gave the couple hugs and congratulations.
The rest of breakfast was great. Jill got up and announced the starting lineup for the day. Hope was starting in goal with Becky, Kelley, Abby and Sonnett on the back line. JJ, Sam and Kristie at midfield and finally Tobin, Alex, and Pinoe at the top. Alex with the captain's armband on today. Jill had talked to Tobin about switching up to forward and Tobin thought why not.
The team went to their respective rooms after finishing breakfast to get ready in their warm ups. Soon enough, the team was on the bus and heading over to the stadium to play Chile.

In the 33rd minute, Kristie passed the ball over to Sam, who in turned passed it back Sonnett. Sonnett passed it up to JJ who found a streaking Tobin and passed it up. Tobin raced towards the right corner and paused. She watched the defender try and steal the ball and juked her out getting just a little space to cross the ball in. Pinoe found the ball with her head and put it into the back of the net making the score 1-0 over Chile. Pinoe ran towards the corner and stretched her arms out like she usually does and Tobin and Alex came from behind and jumped on her. The rest of the team collided with them and they all cheered and celebrated. They got back into position and the game restarted.

The halftime whistle blew and the teams headed to the locker rooms. Andy and Theo walked together, talking to each other about what they had seen in the game so far. They got into the locker room and sat down. They were given custom shirts, jackets and sweats from the coaching staff. Andy's said 'Heath' on the back. She wanted 'Morgan-Heath' on the back but since nobody knew about Alex being her mom and her and Tobin being together, she opted for just 'Heath' for now. Theo's had 'O'Solo' on the back. Her moms had come out a little bit ago so Theo decided to rep them both with their 'ship name' and the name the two were eventually going to change to once they got married.
Halftime flew by and soon the teams were out on the field and the whistle restarted the game. In the 59th minute, Alex found the ball on the right side of the field. Tobin shifted to the inside taking Alex's position to even the field back out. Alex raced up the right side and took a long shot from the top of the 18. The keeper blocked the ball making it bounce out towards the center of the box. Tobin noticed Pinoe was too far to get it before anyone else could so she ran for it. The ball bounced to Tobin's feet and she pulled her left foot back and brought it forward and connected with the ball. The ball took off and went straight into the left upper 90. Tobin ran towards the right corner flag on the field and jumped up and pumped her fist. She turned around in time to see Alex collide with her. Pinoe joined soon after and then the rest of the team. "Yeah Tobs!" Pinoe yelled. The players all gave Tobin a hug or 'good job' and soon it was just Alex and Tobin. Alex pulled Tobin in and hugged her tightly.
"Great rebound baby." Alex said and Tobin smiled. Alex pulled back and put her hands on Tobin's head and put their foreheads together briefly before moving away. The two jogged back towards their restart positions and soon they were off to the races again.

It was the 90th minute with 2 minutes of added time. Pinoe raced down the field with the ball. She looked up to see Tobin and Alex running with her. She crossed the ball back to Kristie Mewis who looked up. She popped the ball up and Tobin adjusted herself away from the ball giving Alex space. Alex jumped up and connected her head with the ball. The ball sailed past the keepers outstretched arms and into the goal. Alex ran towards the right corner with her arms outstretched and her tongue sticking out. Tobin ran up behind her and jumped on her back. The team celebrated knowing that not only did they really seal the win, but they did it in style.
The team got into their positions and within a minute, the final whistle blew and the USA was celebrating their first win.
