'Emma,

This has been the hardest text I've ever had to write. I know it's cliche but it was nothing that you did wrong it was all on me. I didn't mean to fall in love with Jessica but somehow it happened. I want you to know that we had some great moments and you're such a good person I wish you all the best .

The sun filtering through my blinds is a welcome sight today, lifting my mood instantly . Today is the first day of my final year in college and although the thought of having to drag myself out of bed isn't exactly appealing, there is still an undercurrent of excitement coursing through me. The final year of college means that I'll be one step closer to getting into the university of my dreams and working towards my dream job as a publisher.

I have a very solid plan in place to help me achieve my goals. I have written out a timetable of revision and will be continuing to do maths tutoring twice a week to help me save up for university. The tutoring will also count as extra credit and I will take it where I can get it.

I take a deep breath and finally get out of bed. My feet connect with the wooden floor and I groan a bit at the cold feeling. I already picked out my outfit last night, a sure fire way to optimise my time better. My outfit consists of a baggy hoodie and a pair of ' mom' jeans. Dragging myself to my en-suite, I switch on the shower and grab a warm , clean towel from the cupboard.

Post shower , I dress quickly and brush my teeth. I'm not one for make up. Not that I don't need it, hell,  I probably really do but I am not good at it. A good make up artist could drastically improve my appearance, but I will simply make it worse.

Grabbing my already packed tote bag, I stick on my glasses and rush downstairs.

" Good morning Em" my mums sings as I enter the kitchen.

" Good -morning. Ah you made me breakfast. I love you" I say , grabbing a slice of the perfectly buttered toast.

" Hey... that was mine! You and your brother drive me up the wall sometimes", my mum mutters under her breath but I can see the small curve of her lips indicating her smile.

" Is Harry awake?" I ask before stuffing the toast into my mouth.

" No- I'm going up to wake him now , I'll drop him to school before heading to work. You ready for the final year of college?" My mum turns properly towards me and eyes my outfit with slight distaste. My mum thinks I don't do myself justice with my wardrobe, however I beg to differ. I'm comfortable and happy.

I roll my eyes and nod. " Yup, it"s going to be a busy one but nothing I can't handle". I throw her a cheesy smile to let her know her nerd daughter will smash her A levels.

She nods and smiles in return.
"Remember to have some fun too Emma. There's more to life than good grades and a good job. These things don't equal happiness"....

I roll my eyes for the second time this morning, the poor things get more of a work out than the rest of my body.

" Those things you just listed will make me extremely happy". I kiss her on her soft plump cheek and wave goodbye as I rush out the door. I know it's only 7:45 and classes don't start for another hour but I'd rather be early than risk being late.

By the time I've walked to school I've managed to work up a sweat. I sit down on the school picnic bench and riffle through my bag looking for my water bottle. I groan in relief when my fingers come into contact with the cool metal flask and I grab it and hurriedly open it , greedily gulping down the contents.
