Mae woke up to yet another devastating email on her phone. She failed the job interview. At that rate she's just planning to be Zane's maid for the rest of her life. He paid her just yesterday, and she got to pamper herself at a hotel down the street. She went to the spa and had a relaxing evening. She was fine with being all alone for the first time in a long while.
But the email just had to ruin her day from the beginning.
Mae came home and saw the lack of mess the boys had created. She honestly expected them to flip the house upside down, because she forgot she's dealing with grown adults. There were dirty plates and glasses, but all organized on the table. They ate everything and left their clothes by the pool.
Yeah, however that worked. They probably went home shirtless.
She put her tote bag aside and grabbed her apron, wrapping it tight around her waist. She tied her hair up into a bun and gathered all her energy and will to live, "Life must go on whether you're Kate or Mae."
While she was cleaning up, she heard a door clicking shut. Mae looked over her shoulder and saw Xavi standing in front of his door with wide eyes but a rather blank gaze. He probably had to reset his whole system to wake up properly, and then he raised his hand and waved at her.
"Good morning, beautiful Kate!"
"Good morning," Mae replied, smiling softly.
"I'll help you," he muttered, "But after I go to the bathroom."
Mae didn't get to decline the offer as he strutted to the bathroom while yawning loudly. His yawn had the power to spawn other three guys out of nowhere, all standing in the same stance as he did in the beginning, but at different places. One came out from the guest bedroom, another on the staircase, and the other was standing on the balcony upstairs.
"I don't remember bringing a girl to the party," the one in buzz cut muttered from the stairs.
"That's Kate," the one on the balcony replied.
"Who's Kate?" Asked the one who shared the room with Xavi.
"I don't know," the guy who recognized Mae shrugged. "Zane's friend, I guess?"
"Friend?"
"I'm Kate," Mae interjected, "I'm like... The housekeeper."
"And my future girlfriend," Xavi added, grinning as he approached Mae. He frowned when he looked back and realized that everyone was there but none had a shirt on but him. "That's not very family friendly."
"I actually put everything in the washing machine... I thought nobody stayed," Mae muttered softly, and Xavi gaped at her. "But it'll be dry in no time. We have a dryer."
A few moments later, Mae felt like a retired single mother of four as she had to make an easy breakfast for four guys who patiently waited on the kitchen island. Mae told them to wait in the dining room, but they joined Xavi who helped her in the kitchen before she ended up having four men watching her cook.
And they were all curious.
"Sometimes I forget Zane is married." Jeff muttered.
"Yeah," Brooke nodded, "And it's crazy that we never saw his wife."
"Do you think she's hot? Zane has a type, right? Like hot girls."
"He doesn't," Martin yawned, stretching his arms. "Hot girls want him, he only fall for few of them."
"I'm pretty sure he has a type. Aren't they all brunette?" Jeff tilted his head.
"No, he dated my sister. She's blonde. And Alex, the redhead from school."
