Mae stood in the doorway, staring at Zane who had been sleeping the whole hour while she just woke up fifteen minutes ago. She then went to the balcony to look at the resort layout, wondering if she should wait for Zane or just go out on her own to explore the place. She waited for fifteen minutes before deciding to go out.

She went to a coffee shop and bought some snacks and iced coffee for them so they could chill in the room until it's dinner time. Mae stopped at the restaurant to make a reservation for dinner, just to have an excuse to go out or else they might end up staying in the suite all day.

On her way back, Mae stopped by at a jewelry booth by the beach. She smiled at the woman who was making a bracelet from seashells on the spot, then browsed her items. One necklace stood out in particular, and it was a necklace with an unfamiliar coin as its locket.

The woman noticed that Mae had her eyes on the necklace, so she told her, "I think it's like an arcade coin. Some kid gave it to me saying it brought him luck, so he wanted to pass it on."

"If it brings him luck, why did he not keep it?" Mae asked.

"He said he didn't need it anymore because he found what he prayed for," the woman shrugged.

Mae hummed, putting it down and looking at the other accessories. She ended up buying a few pairs of earrings and some bracelets.. As she was paying for it, the woman took the only peculiar necklace and gifted it to her, "For good luck."

"Oh, it's fine, I don't--"

"Or gift it to someone you love. Maybe they need the charm," the woman told her again.

"Thank you," Mae just smiled, then left the booth. She chuckled to the thought of how unlucky she might have looked to the woman.

When Mae reached the suite, she noticed Zane was awake and pacing around in the room. She frowned when she realized he was getting ready to go somewhere. "Zane?" She called, but he just spared her a glance before reaching for his wallet and phone.

"I'm sorry, I need to leave for a bit," he approached her and gave her a kiss. "I'll be back by--"

"Where are you going? What happened?"

"Something came up and I need to check on it. I'll be back by dinner time, okay? I promise."

"Where are you going?" Mae asked again.

"I'm taking a flight home, but I will be back soon. By dinner. Okay?"

"Wait, I'll come with you."

"No, just wait here. It won't take too long," Zane told her, "I'll see you later."

Mae stood frozen in place, staring as Zane left the room and she was alone. Mae put her stuff down and wondered where he went. She sat down and texted Zane to ask what happened. She thought that maybe he would tell her the story on his way to the airport. Zane didn't read her text for a while, so Mae decided to text Xavi. He might know something.

Hey. Zane just left in a hurry. He said something came up but I didn't manage to ask what happened. Do you know anything about this?

A few minutes later, Xavi read her text and replied:

Hi! I'm not sure either, but it's probably something concerning the company. I will ask around and get back to you later, okay? Did he leave you alone?

Yes, but I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Thank you Xavi, I'll be waiting for any news.

No prob, beautiful Mae. Talk later.

Mae sighed in defeat, staring at the clock. The flight home will take an hour. Dinner is in two. She's convinced that he wouldn't make it to dinner.

Nevertheless, Mae got ready for dinner and decided to wait at the restaurant. She would hate wasting money even if Zane failed to show up. Mae put on a little black dress and head out on her own. She managed to take a photo of her outfit and sent it to Alaia as proof that she's using the dresses Alaia gave instead of her good old casual clothes.
