Diavolo hates having to go to work on Tuesdays, her boss is usually in a bad mood every Tuesday. She works in a newspaper industry, more specifically in the photography section. She's in charge of picking out all of the best pictures, and making sure they look good on the paper. Today her boss was especially picky about the photos, apparently they were having a special news article about a pair of celebrities cheating on each other. Diavolo was sent about 50 pictures to go through, and they were all good photos this time. She could only pick three to go in the newspaper. She had already been lectured by her boss earlier about how important it is for the pictures to be perfect, so the added stress wasn't very good for her. She looked through all of the pictures and sighed. Her coworker Tiziano noticed, and walked over to try and brighten her mood.
"Hey Dia, what's up? You look kinda stressed." Tiziano leaned on Diavolo's desk, smiling.
"Hey Tiz, I am really stressed right now, they have me on the cheating celebrities photos." Diavolo moved her laptop a bit so Tiziano could see.
"Oh geez, that's a lot. They all look like decent pictures too, I don't envy you Dia." Tiziano looked shocked by the amount of pictures.
"Yeah, and it doesn't help that the boss is in a bitchy mood today."
"Isn't he always in a bitchy mood though? Oh speaking of the boss... I heard he's gay." Tiziano put a hand to her mouth like a popular girl would when spreading rumors, not that she wasn't.
"That would make sense actually. Like a lot of sense, if only he had a better attitude though." Diavolo laughed a bit.
"Yeah. Oh hey do you want some help with the pictures? I've got some free time." Tiziano pulled up a chair and took a seat.
"Yes please, thank you so much."
Tiziano and Diavolo went through all of the photos together.
"I think that these will work the best, I've read the article they are planning on putting in." Tiziano pointed at 7 pictures.
"That narrows it down a lot, how many do you need to have?" Tiziano looked at Diavolo.
"I need to have three."
"Okay let's see.." Tiziano looks through the pictures she chose, very closely.
After about five minutes, Tiziano turned back to Diavolo with a big grin.
"We got this. Check these out." Tiziano showed Diavolo three pictures, that were absolutely perfect, it made Diavolo's jaw drop.
"Oh my god Tiz these are perfect. This is gonna be the best newspaper of the whole year I guarantee it!" Diavolo smiled with enthusiasm. She opened up her filtering app and began to edit the photos.
"Glad to help Dia." Tiziano smiled, happy to have completed her mission. She watched Diavolo work for a while before walking back to her desk.
Diavolo spent an hour on each picture, making them even more perfect than before. Afterwards she sent them to her boss, via email.
Her boss had sent back a very nice email, despite the mood he was in. He even said that Diavolo could go home early. Diavolo packed up her laptop, and grabbed her bag. She waved bye to Tiziano, and walked in an elevator. She pressed the button for the first floor, and texted Doppio about dinner plans as she waited. She walked out of the elevator when it dinged, and left the building. She had taken the bus today instead of driving because she had a bit of wine for breakfast, and didn't trust herself with driving. Now she regretted it. Afternoon buses were always the worst, they were packed with people coming home from work, and she always got stared at when she went on. Once she was whistled at, and considered ripping the man's vocal chords out, of course she didn't. She wasn't looking to be arrested.
She waited for the bus at a nearby stop, and got on when it stopped. She sat down in the front to avoid the people at the back. It was packed as expected, there was a child crying somewhere near the back, and people were coughing and- She just hated it. She took out her phone and put her earbuds in, it helped a little. She felt like she was being looked at, but she shrugged it off. Diavolo knew how to defend herself, so if someone tried anything funny, they would get the beating of their life. Her stop finally came, and she got off the bus. It was a quite a walk to get back home, and it was getting dark. She took out a pepper spray bottle from her bag and held it in her hand as she walked. She would do this any time she was out walking in the afternoon. Thankfully, she got home safe and sound. Diavolo was greeted with a hug from her sweet little sister Doppio. All of her stress and anxiety was gone in an instant. They walked back inside together, and Diavolo made dinner.
