"Don't you think you're being a little too casual about this, Jojo?" You asked sincerely.

Fooling around with some thugs on the streets of New York was one thing, but breaking into a guarded facility was something entirely different.

"Nonsense, Y/N. Just follow my lead." He flashed you his signature grin. All the ladies seemed to swoon over it. And Joseph knew it too.

Erina always called you Joseph's better half. You guessed it was just her way of playing matchmaker with you two.

You liked Joseph, but not that much. Not the way that everyone thought. Yes, you two had shared a kiss or two, but all of them done as a dare. Not out of any romantic interest.

But that's not how Jojo saw it.

Every chance he got, he tried to get closer to you, to flirt with you. But you always rubbed it off as Jojo being Jojo.

Of course, you couldn't have known that everything he did with you was calculated, planned.

All the little games he made you play with him always involved some form of touching or tickling. He almost always made bets with you that he knew he would win. And his prize? Well, he just always asked for a kiss on the cheek.

"Wouldn't you rather have something else?"

"Nope. This was what we agreed on. Now come on, pay up, Y/N."

"You're so strange, Jojo."

"I think what's even more strange is that you're not my wife yet."

"Ha ha. Keep dreaming, Jojo."

"I do. Every night."

You never took him seriously when he said things like that. And Joseph had been quite good at hiding his obsession in plain sight for years, whether intentional or not.

So why did he never just tell you about his true feelings? You two were such close friends after all. In fact, you considered him to be your oldest and most trusted friend.

Well, as strange as it was, as much as he wanted to wed you so everyone knew you were his, he also didn't want things to change. You two had a good thing going on.

You were the best of friends and always at each other's side. You didn't really talk to other men that much and certainly not in any romantic sense, so Joseph didn't feel threatened at all. It was perfect.

If he asked you to marry him, would it change things between you two? Would it change something that didn't need to be changed?

Joseph was glad to just keep you as a "friend" if it meant that you would remain by his side forever. You two could still live and enjoy life and grow old together. That would be enough for him. As long as you didn't get married to anyone else.

But of course, things never do stay the same. They change.

And that's what happened when you two broke in to a German facility in Mexico to break out Speedwagon.

Ancient pillar men were released and now you could only sit back and support Joseph's fight against these creatures. You didn't know much about Hamon, just that it gave Joseph some superhuman abilities.

Abilities that were just going to grow stronger as you two met Caesar and Lisa Lisa.

Your words of encouragement whenever Lisa Lisa gave Joseph some rough training didn't really seem to do much. That was in your eyes at least. You didn't think it had any effect, but she begged to differ.
