(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

I watch curiously as Newt waves Minho off, and then starts climbing the wall. I have to say, the guy is resourceful for having been given one of the biggest scares of his life probably last night. I gesture to the screen. "Thomas, look!" When he sees what I'm seeing, his eyes widen. "Do you think- Is that safe? Is he going to fall down?"

Thomas shakes his head, eyes frozen to the screen. "I don't know. I don't think so. But he won't be able to climb far."

I scoff. "I think you're not giving Newt the credit he deserves."

"No, I mean it. The ceiling is going to stop him."

My brows furrow. "Oh yeah... I forgot." Realisation hits - I'm still not used to having all of my memories. "Oh no, he's going to smack into it! Or the vines are going to come loose - Thomas, you have to do something."

His voice is barely audible as he responds. "I can't."

"Huh? What do you mean you can't? You obviously know what some of the buttons around this place do - can't you set off an alarm or something? Maybe talk through his head? Or even-"

"I can't, (Y/N), okay?!" He turns away from the screen, so I can't see his face. "We're not allowed to. I don't even know what the punishment will be. Not after what they put you through. I don't want to risk it."

"Well then, tell me what to do and blame me. I can take it. The Maze wasn't so bad. Sure, not having memories sucks, but better have no memories than let someone injure themselves, no?"

"No, you don't understand. What if they decide to punish everyone this time?"

"I'll get them not to. I'll do something worse so they're distracted. Please, Thomas." I sigh. "I know this seems really irrational, but please don't let someone else be hurt. I don't know how you managed to wind up in the facility, but I don't think they're ever going to let you leave. Don't you want to go against that? Even a little bit? Think of it as a prank - a harmless one. Because no one's going to get hurt. And in order for no one to be hurt, you have to make sure that you interfere so that Newt doesn't get hurt. Please, Thomas. And then I'll leave. I'll never ask for you guys to sneak me into places I'm not supposed to be in again." I risk a look at the screen, and I'm relieved to find that Newt hasn't climbed that far up from the ground. Phew.

Thomas looks like he's fighting an internal battle, rather than a physical one, but eventually seems to come to a conclusion. "She's going to murder me, and you best bet that I'm using you as my human shield." He finally mutters, before leaning over a keyboard a couple of steps away.

I grin. "You're the best."

Typing something, he scoffs. "You won't be saying that when Teresa gets here."

I shrug. "Eh, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Or when she gets here."

Looking over the other screens, I notice movement in one of the far right ones - some sort of metal appendages seemingly appearing out of nowhere. Huh, it's one of the slug things. I wrinkle my nose in disgust. It looks like a science experiment gone wrong, but, like, severely wrong. It rolls and clicks and whirrs its way over, and disappears from the screen.

It takes me a few seconds to relocate it on another screen, and by then, I wonder why the little surveillance creature didn't move after it; I remember seeing a few during my time in the Maze, and the rest I remember from pre-Maze times. Then it hits me - Teresa's probably controlling them. Right. Which means she can definitely see what's going on. Oops.

It also seems as if she can tell when she's being thought about, because a moment later, she bursts into the room, startling me whilst Thomas remains concentrated and unfazed. The expression marring her face isn't a pleased one, and I get the distinct feeling we're about to be told off.
