"What's this?" Cassy asked the librarian. She was standing in the library looking at the interesting objects that it had collected.
"That is a sundial. Tt was used before clocks existed." The librarian explained kindly.
Cassy looked closer at the object and flipped it over to find some strange symbols. "What do all these symbols mean?" She asked when she showed her the markings.
"No one really knows what they are. People gave up trying to find out what they mean years ago. But, the legends say that the sundial was cursed by an ancient goddess and given to a wicked mean pirate. Shortly after he received it strange things started to happen and some of his crew went missing." The librarian replied.
Just as she finished speaking, Theo walked into the history sector of the library. He walked over to them and saw what they were looking at. "That thing has to leave." Theo whispered.
"What did you say Theo?" Cassy asked him.
Theo looked up from the sundial and said again, "that thing has to leave."
"Why? What's wrong with it?" The librarian asked him, getting concerned.
"Yeah it's harmless. Why are you getting so upset over it being here?" Cassy questioned.
"Because," he started, "that thing is responsible for my parents' disappearance."
