"WHAT?!" Jeffany shrilled. "You told me we're going to Manila Opera Hotel." Riley was walking beside her, checking the paper. They were walking under the rail of LRT, smoke from different vehicles tainting their dresses, when Jeffany asked again where they were heading.

"I wasn't sure," Riley said, stopping his steps. "I just nodded when you mentioned that hotel. You hear? They sound alike. Manila Opera, Makati Shangri-La. You think?"

Jeffany was in the verge of shouting in distress as she turned around to face Riley. She restrained herself, clipping her hands down to her waist. "We're not playing here," she said in a gritted teeth.

"Sorry," Riley frowned like a kid being scolded. He stared at her, eyes were a bit watery. He was pleading with those almond crystals.

Jeffany sighed, pressing a palm on her face. "Okay, okay. Let's go to the train station."

"What?" Riley shrieked, and Jeffany shot him a stern look. "Okay, how many minutes?"

"It depends on how much time we'll wait"

"Approximately?"

"Thirty minutes waiting, fifteen minute ride to EDSA Station, and another train ride to Makati. That would be a total of one hour and thir-"

"Shhh," Riley cut her with a palm on her face. "Let's call a cab." He started walking across the street when the stoplight turned to red. Jeffany followed.

"But that would be expens-"

Riley cut her, shoving his wallet on her face. "Any problem?"

Jeffany didn't answer. She just rolled her eyes and kept following.

A few moments later, a taxi came into halt in front of them. "Makati Shangri-La Hotel," Jeffany said over the shield.

"Hop in," the driver said.

They boarded inside the taxi and it started to make its way down to business.

Riley was silent for the whole ride, occasionally making amazed noises every time they passed a fascinating scenery, glancing at Jeffany every now and then. Riley sat comfortably, resting his right elbows at the edge of the shield, right thumb in his mouth. As comfortable as he sat, as uncomfortable as Jeffany did. She was keeping herself in place, legs fastened together. Her hands on the side of her legs, clipping her arms to the seat.

At the middle of the ride, when Riley was shaking his left leg, he caught Jeffany's attention. She looked down at his legs and up to his face. And there he was, staring straight to Jeffany. Instead of holding the link, Riley pulled his eyes away back to the window. Jeffany bowed her head, smiling silently, and he saw Riley's left hand. It was moving slowly across the seat in the direction where it was obviously going.

Jeffany didn't wait any further. She lift up her right hand and pressed it against Riley's. He swiveled his head quickly, looking down to his right hand, trailing his gaze up to Jeffany's face. He stared deeply. This time, he didn't pull away. He stared at her with delight. He started moving his hands, intertwining his fine fingers with Jeffany's little ones, pairing the little pieces of their own selves.

Jeffany grinned at him, and she slided on her seat, nearing herself to Riley. He pulled her head closer to his arm, letting her rest. For a moment, they fitted themselves. They found each other and everything seemed to be in a blur, like they were the only ones living in the world, and this time, all of it was perfect.

They were in a cuddle the whole ride. When the taxi pulled over at the side, they were standing in front of a tall building. The Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
