CHAPTER NINETEEN • A REAL DATE

∆∆∆

"thank you for today!" kana bid her farewell to her co-members of the cheerleading club after they dropped her off to the gym— they finished their training in the morning, but kana wanted to watch the volleyball club in the afternoon. she was also quite sure that shirabu would drag her anyway, that's why she insisted on staying instead of hanging out with her newfound friends.

after the figure of her friends disappeared, she then peeked her head inside the gym, only to be noticed by goshiki immediately. he started jogging towards the doors and opened it wider for the female, giving her an ever so energetic smile.

"hello, senpai! came to watch us train? it's been awhile! you've been busy with your own club lately that you barely have time to watch us," goshiki said, greeting kana with a beaming smile.

"yes, i am. i've been busy too, and i know you guys are also working hard for the upcoming matches. are you guys taking a break—"

"GOSHIKI!"

before kana could even finish her sentence, both she and the first year heard the vice captain of the club calling goshiki's name— making him shiver from head to toe. he had forgotten that they were having a two on two match, and he was among the next members to play once the other sets have been finished.

"sorry! i'm coming," he told the older male, and then he gestured to kana to come inside in which she agreed to.

the first year already jogged towards one side of the net, stretching his limbs to get ready for the training he was about to participate in. kana then walked towards the coach, who was intensely watching every move of the players of his team. when he noticed the presence of the female, he turned his head and nodded slightly as a greeting.

"your grandmother invited me for a get-together this saturday. i will be visiting your family." washijo sensei informed the girl, making her beam up in happiness. "you're coming home this weekend, correct?"

kana nodded enthusiastically, "yes, pops! it's been a while since you joined us in a get-together. i am glad you will be there!"

"sit. let's watch them train. give me some feedbacks, if you think there is something that needs to be pointed out. i have to polish these guys more." the old man replied, so kana happily sat down on the bench with the coach.  "by the way, shirabu, that second year setter. he has been watching you from afar."

kana suddenly felt her cheeks get warm— why did pops have to point that out?! it wasn't like she wanted his attention... well, truthfully, she did. but having all of it without asking for it, kana found herself shy. after all, it had always been her who took advances and gave signs that she liked him. then again, having his eyes on her did not really mean that he liked her back— but kana wasn't a fool not to sense something.
