Griffin sat down at one of those highly uncomfortable chairs at the visiting area in the local jail. He raised his eyebrow at his friend who sat down across from him.
"Griff, I can't wait to get out of here." That was the first thing his friend said to him. Running his hand through his hair.
Griffin rolled his eyes. "And why's that?" He smiled as his friend sighed.
Max leaned forward in his chair, resting his chin on the table. "The one stupid lawyer, I forget his name, said he's work on my (whatever) if I made sure some punk was safe."
The blonde looked at his friend in confusion. "Oh? How bad of a punk is he?"
Max made eye contact with Griffin. His eyes focused. His mouth in a small frown. "Ash Lynx. That's who my cellmate is."
Griffin felt his eyes widen. "Wait, as in the one here for the murder of Marvin Crosby?"
Max nodded. "But it's not all bad I guess. You see, he knows a lot about my reports. He's very intelligent. I think I was asked to protect him because well..he's quite the view." His eyes widened as he realized what he said. "Not in a creepy way! Others find him a view! I don't. That's disturbing and gross. I would never have such feelings for a child."
Griffin chuckled. "I knew what you were getting at." He scanned the room. "So. Anything interesting I should know about Ash Lynx?" His voice lost its usual upbeat tone to it, as it suddenly became serious.
"Well, he does run a gang. His gang is the most feared out on the streets. Or, at least he is." Griffin nodded along. "He's 17..kind of thin for a normal seventeen year old. Especially one for his height."
"Ah. Interesting." Griffin scanned those around the room. "So. Besides that, anything new?"
His friend shook his head. "Just the same old."
Griffins eyes locked on a an Asian...kid? With their dad? "That kid looks pretty young to be in such a place."
Max looked over to see where his friend was looking. He made a small hum. "He doesn't look that young, maybe sixteen?"
Griffin looked away from the group. "Maybe we shouldn't watch. It's kind of weird."
"Yeah I agree. Why was your attention even drawn to them? It's so weird. I wouldn't of even noticed if you didn't say anything."
Griffin shrugged. "Was looking around and noticed how young he looked. That's all."
His fries rolled his eyes. "You are one odd fella, Mr. Callenreese."
Max looked back over to the people Griffin pointed out. They definitely were Asian, without a doubt. Youngest one didn't seem as young as Griffin thinks. Older one...wait. "Shunichi?"
At the call of his name the older male looked over to find where his name was being called from. His eyes met Max's. Shunichi instantly smiled and waved at his old friend. "Hey, Max!"
Max and Shunichi became friends back in high school. Shunichi came to New York as an international student for a year. Ever since then, Max and him have been penpals, or have travelled the world to see each other.
Max waved back. "You never told me you were stopping in dear old New York! What a pleasant surprise!"
The two of them both stood up and went to each other for a hug. "So, we're out here punching cops now?" Shunichi laughed to himself.
"Yeah yeah. So, who are you here visiting for?" Max was genuine curious. After all it wasn't him, since Mr. Ibe seemed quite surprised that Max was here.
