Most families of the students at Anum Academy have a few things in common. Most are the parents who never really wanted children but did it because society said that they should. So the only thing they could think to do with the children they never wanted; was to send them as far away as possible. Boarding school was just the place for that.
Then there were the families that are rich and powerful and they wanted to make sure that their children had the best education possible. They also made sure that the school knew just how deep their pockets were.
But the Thompsons were different, Flynn had to beg to have her parents send her to Anum. Their family was close-knit they would have nightly suppers around the dining table where they would have conversations about their days and they were happy. So when she started at Anum her parents made sure to keep in touch with emails and care packages filled with her favorite things.
Her first term at Anum was perfect, she was placed into the House of Anubis which would quickly become her home away from home. She was quiet when she first started, but then again everyone was in her year. Her housemates were all special in their own ways. Quickly Flynn became friends with the two pranksters of the house, Alfie and Jerome. She had two roommates Joy and Patricia. Well, Joy and Patricia quickly became thick as thieves, and Joy being kind would include Flynn in most things they did.
