In the middle of the night, Patricia began to yell in fear, and quickly everyone in the house made it to her room. Flynn was standing near the door with Alfie and Jerome. The girl was going on about how a man was standing at her door.
Once Patricia had calmed down everyone returned to their rooms. Fabian, Mick, and Alfie all head downstairs. Nina and Amber headed to their room and Flynn made her way to her room after checking on Patricia once more. Jerome was waiting in the hallway, "Hey," he spoke before walking with her to her room.
"Hey," she said with a small smile.
"Look, um... about earlier," Jerome starts.
"Um... yeah," she says as they reach her door. They both stand there awkwardly and then turn to look at Trudy as she comes down the hallway.
"It is well after ten o'clock, you both need to head off to bed," Trudy says as she guides Jerome off to the stairs by putting a hand on his back. Flynn runs her hand through her hair and then goes into her room and straight to her bed.
The following morning breakfast had been uneventful, although Patricia didn't come down for breakfast. Flynn ate her usual breakfast sitting between Amber and Jerome. Once they were all done with breakfast they all went off to school. Jerome, Alfie, and Flynn all walked to school together.
The three all went to class together. Flynn sat in her usual spot in the back of the class, while Jerome and Alfie sat together in their usual spot. Amber Mick and Fabian all made their way into the classroom, discussing something before Amber separated from the group and went to sit next to Nina. Amber soon turned to the rest of the class and spoke loudly, "You think I'm a genius?" The girl then began to talk quietly once more after she was quieted down by Nina.
Mrs. Andrews made her way into the classroom greeting everyone, "Good morning everyone," she says making her way to her desk.
The class responded in unison, "Morning, Mrs. Andrews."
"I have your French test papers to hand back here," she says as she makes her way around the room passing the tests back to the students.
Mick began to shout with excitement about the fact that he had gotten an 'A'.
"Okay, settle down Pleas. Amber back to your seat," Mrs. Andrews says addressing the class and seeing that Amber was standing over Mara's shoulder.
The students were hanging between classes in the drama room, Flynn was sitting on the sofa watching Mara scrape gum off of the bottom of Jerome's shoes. Flynn would normally have asked why she was cleaning his shoes, but she didn't have the energy. The whole house got very little sleep the night before due to the Patrica thing.
Alfie soon walked in asking, "Has anyone seen my gum?" He walks to the table where Mara was discarding the gum from Jerome's shoe. Alfie picked up a piece of gum and popped it into his mouth. "I thought I left it in the Science Lab."
Mara tried to speak up to stop him, "Alfie, No!" Jerome laughs as the boy pops the piece of gum into his mouth.
Amber came into the room, "Hey, Mara, what's going on between you and Mick? You were acting very strange Earlier?" Amber questions.
"Nothing. Amber, please. Let it go. I'm not even tutoring him anymore," she replies. Amber then heads for Mara's bag and starts rifling through it. "Hey! That's private!" she says standing and heading towards the girl.
Amber pulls out her test paper and begins to compare it to the other one in her hand. "Funny, you and Mick must be like, psychically linked or something," Amber says investigating the papers.
"Busted," Jerome spoke up.
"You creep! You did this," Mara makes an outburst towards Jerome.
"I never said a word. Promise," Jerome says putting his hand on his chest.
"Why are you calling him a creep? You're the creep," Amber said looking at Mara. "Stealing my boyfriend by helping him cheat," she says getting fed up with the situation at hand.
"I'm not stealing your boyfriend! And Mick doesn't know anything about it!" Mara says trying to defend her actions.
"What? I don't get it," she says confused.
"I love this part, She did it for him secretly," Jerome says with a smile on his lips.
"You are unbelievable. Did you really think you could get Mick by doing that?" Amber questions. She then puts the papers down and she begins to fight with Mara.
"Ding Dong round one," Jerome says as he sits up from his slouched position.
The crowd of boys in the room begin shouting, "Whoah!" and "Catfight."
Mick ran into the room and began trying to get the girls to stop fighting. He then turned his attention to Jerome, "Don't just sit there, you idiot," he says.
Jerome rolls his eyes before standing to help separate the girls. Jerome pulls Mara off Amber but she turns quickly and pushes away from the boy, "Get off me!"
Mick questions Amber, "What are you doing?"
"That's right take her side," Amber retorts. "Just because she cheated for you doesn't mean you have to defend her," Amber continues. She hands both of the papers to Mick for him to see.
"Is this true?" he questions looking at Mara with hurt in his eyes.
"I was just trying to help. Your answers were so... wrong," she says not making the situation any better.
"Do you really think I'm so thick... That I can't do anything without your help?" He asks.
"No, of course not. Not 'anything'." she says.
"I could get kicked out of school for this," Mick says before dropping the papers and wrapping his arm around Amber's shoulders then heading out of the room.
"Mara you missed a spot," Jerome said pointing to his shoes.
Mara looked defeated as she looked at Jerome before rolling her eyes. She soon left the room and went to speak to Mrs. Andrews Flynn stayed quiet through the events that had taken place before her as she tried to put the pieces together of what Jerome must have seen to get Mara under his thumb.
Soon the drama room had cleared only leaving Flynn, Jerome, and a few other students. Jerome made his way across the room to sit next to Flynn. Jerome cleared his throat as he then turned to his friend. "So about earlier," he began stuttering over his words.
"Look J I think we both know it was a spur-of-the-moment type thing and if we hadn't been discussing something so emotional it probably wouldn't have happened. So let's just forget it?" Flynn says cutting to the chase and stopping herself from getting heartbroken by what was about to come from his lips.
Jerome looked surprised by the girl's words but assumed it just meant that she didn't feel the same way that he did. "Right, glad we got that out of the way," he says with a tight smile on his lips. Flynn matched his smile she then grabbed her bag before walking back to Anubis house.
