"What, tell me what it says Maariah," I said not wanting to wait any longer. I had been waiting for this moment all week, and was surprised that Maariah had taken her time to ring me herself. She must have a very busy schedule, and I felt bad, because she must have stopped what she was doing and contacted me when the results came in.
I waited for Maariah to reply, but she didn't give me the answer that I had been wanting."I'm sorry Josie, I've tried, I really have, but you will have to come into the hospital with Sam and get the results as I am not allowed to give the details over the phone. I am free in an hour, so I'll book you in," Maariah said. I understood where she was coming from, as it was confidential and Maariah needed to know that she was talking to me. Also Sam had to be there, as he was the supposed father of my child.
So I agreed to be there in an hour, and thanked Maariah again, for taking the time out for me.
I sat for a while, contemplating whether to ring Sam or just to go to his house and pick him up. I then realised that I didn't know where he lived, so decided to ring him.
"Hello?" He said into the phone, answering after a few rings.
"Hi Sam, I hope I wasn't disturbing you," I said.
"No, no of course not," he said quickly.
"The DNA results have come in and I need you to come to the hospital with me and Amelie so that we can get the results." There was silence on the other end of the line, so I thought he had gone. As I was about to ask him if he was there or not, he spoke again.
"Ok, can you pick me up in thirty minutes, as my car has broken down?" He asked.I agreed to picking him up, and he gave me his address. I then set off to find his house. It took us around half an hour to get there, and when we did, he was stood outside waiting for us. I looked at his house. Well, mansion and gasped, staring at it in awe. It was magnificent. There seemed to be three floors at least, and so many rooms. There was a large fountain out in the front, and I had never seen anything like it
He got into the car, and smirked, realising that I was staring at his house.I felt slightly embarrassed, so I just began driving towards the hospital. I was speeding so that we could get there as quickly as possible, as I really wanted to find out what the results were.
"Woah Josie, slow down the results aren't running away," Sam said joking. Amelie giggled, but I glared at him. Although he was annoying me, I slowed down slightly. He became quieter after that, making me feel slightly bad for snapping at him.
We got to the hospital, and I grabbed Amelie's hand, but she let go and asked Sam to pick her up. I felt rejected, so wrapped my arms around myself and pretended that it hadn't affected me as much as it actually had. We walked into the hospital, and made our way to the reception area.
Maariah called us in almost straight away, and I literally sprinted to her room, literally not being able to wait any longer. I gave her a brief hug, and she smiled at me knowingly.
"Right, before I tell you, I want to know what would happen if the results came back positive or negative? I want to know from Josie and Sam. Sam first." Maariah said calmly. I thought about it, I wasn't sure.
"If they came back negative, I would still want to stay in touch with Amelie, and maybe try and make Josie my girlfriend, because I kind of like her, and if they came back positive, we would make it work. I would go out with Josie and I could try and make up for all of the time I had missed being Amelie's father." His speech left me speechless. He sounded like he had thought about it thoroughly, and had come to a decision. I was quite happy that he wanted some input in being Amelie's father whether she was his or not, however I felt slightly angry as Amelie may be more fond of him rather than me.Maariah nodded her head at him, smiling then turned to me. "Do you want me to tell you guys now?" She asked. I thought about it for a second. Did I really want to know the answer.
"No! I need to go to the bathroom real quick, can you tell us when I get back?" I asked hopefully.
"I'm sorry Josie, but I have a patient coming in here in two minutes, I have a job to get back to." Maariah said becoming impatient.
"Fine, tell us." I said quietly in a defeated tone. I don't know why, but I didn't want to find out who Amelie's father was. It had always just been the two of us and now there would potentially be a third.
"Josie, did you hear that?" Maariah asked. I shook my head not realising that she had told us while I wasn't listening. I turned to Maariah, and made sure that I wasn't going to drift off into my own daze.
"Go on Maariah I'm listening."
"Ok I'll say it again... Sam is the father."Don't forget to comment and vote if you like my story :)
