"Can you please take care of this? I'm running late for my club."
"...Sure."
"Great! You're so reliable, Y/N! Thank you so much!"
And so, we see Y/N L/N struggle to say no for the thousandth time.
A yes-man, she is.
Well, who can blame her for being one when she was conditioned that if she complied, she would get compliments? As much as compliments make her happy, the fact that they made her act like a dog is too much. Because of her habits, she goes home super late or stays up all night. All she can do now is to finish the task at hand.
She fixed her things, set her chair, and went out of the classroom. She walked along the hallway and to the school entrance. All she can think of is how it would have been nice to be appreciated. She knows the difference between being appreciated and being exploited. But as much as she kept complaining and was aware of the difference between those words, it felt nice to help someone.
Her household is a bit on the crazy side. The people who conditioned her to be a yes-man were—
"Good for nothing people who rely on the trust fund that is slowly wilting."
...Yes. That's how it is. Y/N's parents received a hefty amount of money from her grandmother on her father's side. According to her grandmother's will, it was supposed to be hers, but as she is not an adult yet, they exploited that part and kept using the money for unnecessary things.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they declared we have no funds now and decided to sell me."
...
"..."

"Fuck-"
---Home—
"I'm home."
"Y/N, dear, can you come here, please?"
"At least let me eat and do my homework before telling whatever decision you made—"
--Is what she should have said, but nooo, she followed her parents' command.
She sat beside her mother on the couch and waited for their announcement. Seconds pass by, the clock's continuous ticks are the only noise heard throughout the living room. She glanced at her mother, who had been fidgeting for a while. The deafening silence, the tension, the affectionate way of saying 'dear,' and how they are reacting clearly indicate that they chose to go for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"Please tell me what it is so that I can eat and do my school works."
"We first would like to apologize for taking your time-"
"Please. Just tell me what it is without fillers and sugarcoated words--"
"You're sold."
"...Alright. Then I'll eat, do my schoolwork, and pack my things. Please do give my work to my teachers and lie that I suddenly died."
"Yes~"
Though she held no affection for these people she calls parents, the cheery tone when they heard she accepted the truth hurt her. But then, whoever will take care of her from now on will be better than these two. Well, she doesn't want to get her hopes up, but still... All she wanted was someone who appreciated and respected her. Love can also be included, but time will tell.
"I figured that the money that is supposed to be mine is draining fast. As you daughter who did not receive even a penny from the money I supposed to inherit, I suggest working rather than spending whatever's left one last time before you wallow in despair."
So much for living extravagantly, she thought. She ate, did the dishes, took a bath, did her homework, and packed her bags, as she assumed that she would be picked up tomorrow. She can only hope that her new guardians will be better than these people.
