Sayori POV

When the club separates, I stood outside of the school. It was something that I always do. If I walk home alone, then my mind will start to talk on its own. Luckily...

"Hey, Sayo~! Shall we go?" Monika said, tapping my shoulder. Monika knew how important it was that my heads voices don't get too loud, so she agreed to walk with me every day she could. She also openly listened to me whenever I needed someone to talk to.

"Yeah. Let's go." I say quietly. She smiles at me, and we start walking to my home slowly. We go about half of the walk just enjoying each other's presence in silence, or at least I was. Monika spoke up at some point.

"I've noticed you are really trying to get Natsuki and Yuri closer. Are you gonna stop when they become friends, or...?"

"Well, of course I'm gonna try and get them together! They just have so much chemistry together, and they can't even see it!"

"I understand what you mean! Not only do opposites attract, but I've come to understand that Natsuki acts like a certain kind of character archetype from her manga. Of course, this means it's gonna take a lot to actually get her to say what she wants to..."

"Well, that's what we are here for! We are going to get her to admit her feelings! Right, Moni!" I pump my fists, getting a slight giggle from Monika.

"We'll try our best, I suppose." Monika stops. "We're at your home now."

"Eh?! But I want to hang out with you more!" I grip her arm and shake her lightly. She giggles again.

"I'm sorry, Sayo, but my parents want me to be in the house before they go."

"Then let me go with you!"

"You know the only reason I can even have a sleepover is because they don't like guests. I don't think they would take kindly to me bringing a friend when they are going to be out."

"Uwah! Why are your parents so strict!" I started to shake her harder. She sighed.

"I really don't know. Anyways, see you tomorrow, Sayori!" She patted me, and I went in for a hug. She reciprocated it, but made it short and walked away.

As soon as she left, I ran into my house, ran straight to my bedroom, and closed the door. I gripped the spot on my chest where my heart was and slid down onto the ground. I really don't know when this all happened. One day, Monika was just my best friend, but the next, I suddenly just can't think straight when she's around. Why do I think these thoughts? Why does she make the rainclouds go away? And why... am I aiming for someone so far out of my reach?

...

Why am I even...

My phone buzzes. I pick it up. Chats from the Literature Club are happening. Don't think. Read.

Lavender: Monika I forgot something really important about our sleepover.

LilMonix3: What is it?

Lavender: Are you or any of your family members allergic to cats?

Natsuki: what

LilMonix3: No, why do you ask?

Sunshine: You have a cat?

Lavender: I recently got a kitten. I think it's warming up to me a little, but I am not sure if I can let it be alone in my house until it gets older.
