Chapter Three - Changes

-3rd Person-

While Rory, Rey and Hattie slept that night on the island by the made up fire, they were unaware of the trouble the fleet was in. They had left hyperspace  almost at their new destination, waiting on word from the others when the first order had tracked them and attacked their ships. When given the chance Kylo couldn't push the button that would end his mothers life but that didn't stop the rest of the first order doing what he couldn't.

Everyone on the bridge except Leia was killed, but the latter used force to take her back to the ship, surviving the attack but barely. She was taken away on a stretcher leaving behind her cloaked beacon bracelet which would tell the girls where to find them, on their return.

Hattie struggled to stay asleep as she was wrapped up in her mothers arms. Waking up she saw the hooded figure of Luke leave his home and head down. She looked back at her sleeping mother then slipped out of her embrace to follow him. On the falcon Luke had snuck past Chewie and looked around the familiar ship that had belonged to his friend and hadn't seen in years.

Luke was also reunited with R2, and exchanged a conversation with him when Hattie made herself known.

"Why are you awake?" Luke questioned the little girl.

"I don't know" she shrugged and knelt beside the droid "I'm scared I guess." she admitted to her great Uncle.

"I know what it's like to be scared." Luke replied back

"Then why don't you help?" she wondered. Luke didn't reply "Just because I'm young, doesn't mean I'm stupid. I know things, things you think you can keep secret from me." she scowled at him.

"Oh yeah, like what?" he fired back at her

"Like, Kylo Ren is actually Ben Solo and Ben Solo is my Dad." she folded her arms sassily and that shut Luke up "It's not that hard to figure out. Mom and Grandma aren't exactly stealthy when referring to him and mom slips up all the time. Grandma and Grandpa are my Grandparents and they only had one kid. Ben. Mom and Ben trained as Jedi's but whatever happened Mom survived as did he only now he's named Kylo. The math is simple, and I'm a smart ass."

"You are just like your mother." Luke commented making Hattie grin

"Thank you." her look turned somber "My Mom is my hero, she can do a lot of things, Mister Luke. But what she can't do is tackle the First Order on her own. Whatever happened, she never finished her training and she get's out of whack sometimes for whatever reason. Auntie Rey had no clue about who she really was until a week ago and well I only know the basics. Mum tries to teach me what she can when she can but trying to keep me safe comes first not lessons.

You said you wouldn't teach another generation of Jedi. But what about teaching one family? Mom, Rey and I are the same at least help us have a fighting chance at stopping my father and the first order....please." The talk with the young girl cracked his armour. He stood and held out his hand to her. She jumped up and took it. The two made their way back up and stood over the two who were startled away.

"Tomorrow at dawn. Three lessons. I will teach the two of you the ways of the Jedi and why they need to end.  I will finish my training with Rory." He left Hattie with her mother and went back inside. The sisters glanced at each other shocked.

Meanwhile with the resistance. Rory's adoptive mother Vice Admiral Holdo took command after all the leadership on the bridge were killed in the attack. She called for Finn to join her as she sent the rest back to their posts.

"I'm told that your the new friend of my daughter, Rory." Finn looked shocked and Holdo could tell "Rory's not always forthcoming about me, I know. I also understand that your worried about her and Rey, but I am rest assured that right now they are far safer than we are."

"I know. It's just the last time we saw each other she was going up against Kylo Ren." he replied

"She has a tendency to do that. Look I wanted to touch base with you before I resume my duties, if you need anything just ask." she gave him a small smile and left him alone, while Poe took the chance to speak with her. Finn appreciated the sentiment given to him by Holdo, but he wasn't just going to sit around and wait, he felt the need to let the other know what had happened in their short absence.

His plans were to leave were crushed by a loyal maintenance   worker called Rose, who was a behind the scene girl who had lost her sister in the dreadnaught attack. She was friendly till she realised he was trying to run and stunned him. After a short while though and another conversation the two had become allies and had a plan to get the fleet away from the first order.

They pitched the idea to Poe, who already had a hump after being talked down to by Holdo. Then speaking with Maz they needed a code breaker, Maz could not help right now but she pointed in the direction of he who could . That was their mission.
