"You're on patrol today" Hawks tells me. "I'm going to work with Endeavor so you'll be on your own today"
"Right"
Hawks leaves just as quickly as he came, leaving me alone with my thoughts in his office. I let out a breath, the events of the past few days actually taking time to settle in as I walk towards the window, placing a hand on the glass and looking down at the busy streets. I'm playing both sides here. Working in a hero agency and regularly conversing with someone who classifies as a villain without turning them in. It doesn't help the fact that I don't even know where I stand with myself. Do I really want to do this? Spend my time being a hero in a world where heroes and villains are only separated by how they act on their ideals? A villain life isn't much better though, constantly being on the run from the hero agency, and when caught either executed or sentenced to imprisonment.
Staying a normal civilian doesn't seem all that bad looking at it. I could live a normal life, ignoring my quirk and like peacefully.
Mom would have my head though. She would call me more names than she calls Katsuki in a minute.
Letting out a breath I exit the room, getting ready to leave for patrol when I accidentally bump into someone who I've never seen before, causing both of us to fall and for her to drop all the papers she was holding.
"I'm so sorry I-"
"You better be" She scoffs, picking up the papers and dusting herself off. "Watch where you're going" With that, she walks off into another room.
'Ok....that's one way to start the day I guess'
I shake my head, finally leaving the building, looking around for anything suspicious. With nothing around me I start to walk down the street, kind of still lost in my mind about the whole ordeal. I let out a breath, attempting to snap myself out of this
'You're a real hero now, you can't be distracted my things like this'
"Excuse me miss" a little boy looks up at me, tears in his eyes
"Hello there" I kneel down to him. "Where are your parents?"
"I don't know" he hiccups. "I don't know where they went"
"Ok...do you know where you were supposed to be?"
"Umm....the mall i think"
"Ok then let's go" i smile, picking him up and beginning to walk to the mall. When we get there, I go straight to the main office, immediately seeing two adults talking to an officer, the woman crying.
"Hiro there you are" she runs over to me after i let him down, embracing him and whispering apologies in his ear
"Mommy i was so scared" he cries, making me smile softly
"He was very brave" i speak up, gaining the attention of all of them. "Sure he cried a little when I first found him, but he knew that he would be safe and be returned to his family."
"Thank you miss, really from the bottom of my heart thank you" his mother bows.
"Oh no you don't have to bow it's my job. Im just glad we were able to find you. Ill be taking my leave now" before i can't walk out the door, he pulls on my hero suit
"Can I...be a hero too?"
I bite my lip. I so badly want to say yes, but it all comes down to what his quirk is. It's sad how messed up this society is, but I don't want to crush this kid's dreams.
I sigh, kneeling down to his level again. "Yes. Of course you can be a hero. Don't even forget what being a hero means though: it means protecting those you love the most. Grow strong and protect those you hold dear."
