The two siblings had collapsed on the backseat and were already asleep before she started the car. She started driving, she and Theo were silent for the start of the ride, but both of them knew what was going to happen. "So, did you get what you wanted," Theo asked; She sighed, "Yeah, I have enough recorded to make the trail solid. What about you? Did Kaleb say anything?" He nodded and placed the phone she gave him in the car cabinet. "What about their father?" she asked, "The lone he took from the cartel all the way back for her were just the peak of the ice burg," he replied, "There are more? I thought he was out after paying them off?" Theo chuckled at her, "He was never out."

He stopped himself from continuing the conversation any further. He'd opted to look at the city as they passed by or anything that could distract him from what they were about to do. He never thought things would take such a left turn so fast. He felt her hand on his shoulder. He turned to see her smiling while still looking at the road. She glanced at him and said, "It's going to be ok, Theo. We're going to get them out of this. The lawyers are good enough as it is, and with the material that you helped me gather, I'm sure we won this before it even started." Somehow he doubted that.

She stopped at the gates, and before entering, she put her hand on his shoulder and said, "This won't go for long, Theo. I can promise you that." He smiled at her and turned to the back to wake up the two. They straightened up, got off the car, and went to the main door. "Boys," they turned to Helen, "I love you, ok? Don't forget that," All of them gave her a smile, and she drove off.

"You think he's awake waiting for us?" Josh asked, looking at Theo, "Probably, but you don't need to worry, I'll take care of it," "No, you won't," said Kaleb, "You never really do." They left it at that and went to the door. With a single knock, the door was opened by a smiling Elijah. "C'mon in," he said with an oddly cheerful tone, "The kids were ordered to go to their rooms, you, Theodore, come to the living room with me — Master Joshua is waiting,"

The two hesitantly made their way upstairs, glancing back at Theo while he was in their vision, and he kept a confident stature till he was sure he was out of their sight. The walk to the living room was longer than he would like. The house was oddly quiet. All he could hear was the crackle of the chimney fire getting louder, and they got closer to the living room. When he got there, Senior was sitting next to the fire with a drink in his hand. Elijah bowed and went to the corner. Theo didn't, though for a moment he felt like he should've, and sat on the chair adjacent to the man.

He stared at Theo for about 10 minutes. He didn't move. He didn't sip his drink. His expression didn't change the slightest.

He just stared at him. It felt like it was an eternity before he finally started speaking. "You know Theodore, I was never a man for betrayals. Always kept my guard up to the full, I had to with the lifestyle I have, but this, this takes the cake," Theo steeled himself and tried to remain composed, "They are still going to get it, you are aware of that, right? The teaching of a lifetime it will be," "Jo—" "Know your place while talking to me, kid," Theo was feeling it now, something the kids probably felt every day — the crushing pressure of being around this guy, "You are an EMPLOYEE in MY home. Don't you ever fool yourself into thinking any differently," "Y-yes, Master Joshua," Joshua smiled, one demented and ugly one, "From now on, Elijah will take your place as the head butler. Follow his orders, or you'll be fired. Both of you are dismissed for now."

Both of them hurried out of the living room, leaving Joshua to his thoughts. He finished the remaining glass, then what remained of the bottle. He smiled, "A lesson of a lifetime indeed,"
