My eye flutter open. Within seconds images if last night flood though my brain. I felt nervous all over again. I feel the heat from Deans body against my back and his strong arms wrapped around me. His even breath fans against my ear. I turn on my other side to face him. He is still sound asleep. His face is soft and relaxed. He dosent look as serious as usual. Soon his eyes slowly open. I softly smile at him and he offers me a tired smile in return. He places a kiss on the top of my head and says "Good morning."
"Good morning."
"How do you feel?" His eyes locking on mine.
"Fine, kinda of sore though." I say awkwardly.
"Sorry..." He says avoiding eye contact. I place my hand on his cheek and he looks back up at me.
"I'm not," I say kissing his cheek.
"The pain gets better its just because it was your first time." He assures me. All I do is blush.
"Not that I don't love it here but, we should get back."
"What's the hurry?" He says with a smirk and brushes his lips against mine.
"You're their leader and they need you. Plus, we need to be sure your ankle's ok."
"Ryan and Jess can take care of things." He says kissing my neck which sends a shiver down my body. I let out a small laugh and, gently pushed him away.
"I'm serious, you're hurt and staying here won't make it any better. Plus, your people are probably worried about you."
"Alright," he says getting out of the bed and gathering up our clothes. He handed mine to me and, we both begin getting dressed.
"Their your people to now. You're one of us." He says pulling on his boots. I know he's said this before but this time I actually started to believe him.
Once we're all dressed Dean walks over open the hatch of the bunker and the light can flooding in. I climbed up the ladder and outside it took my eyes a minute to adjust to the light. Once I could see clearly I shut the hatch behind me. Dean helps me cover it up with some leaves, sticks, and grass. By the time we're done you could hardly tell where it was.
We've been walking for about an hour I'd told him how things were in the vault before I left. I couldn't help but begin to wonder once again what had happened simce I left. As well as what had happened to the camp before i got here that made everyone so afraid of newcomers.
"Hey, I get it if you are going to be pissed at me for asking but, you said I'm one of you guys now. So I need to know; what happened to you guys before that has everyone so afraid of me?" He let's out a deep breath before answering.
"It probably a little more then a year ago. Those stories you said your dad told you.. They weren't entirely false. There are are other groups out here like us expect more dangerous. Me and a few guys we out hunting. We ran into a few people from some other group that had settled not to far from us. We ended up getting into an argument about territory.
The way we looked at it you find a place to set up a camp and the rest of the forest and everything in it is fair game. They disagreed. They thought we were trespassing on their land. They refused to believe that we didn't know. Things go out of hand. A few of the guys start throwing punches.
Finally, we broke up the fights. I took my guys back to our camp and the other group went back to theirs. A few days later a girl showed up at our camp. She seemed innocent and afraid; alot like you were. We assumed she'd been out on her own. So we took her in.
We hadn't taken anyone in for a long time, and you know different people handle change differently. A few of our people complained to me saying that they felt that she was 'off'. They were right. Something about her was different. She knew things she shouldn't have."
