"Scylla!" a sailor yelled, as another column of reptilian flesh shot from the cliffs and snapped him up. It happened so fast it was like watching a laser beam rather than a monster. I couldn't even make out the thing's face, just a flash of teeth and scales.

Percy uncapped his sword.

"Everyone! Below deck!" He yelled.

"We can't!" Clarisse drew her own sword. "Below deck is in flames. "

"Lifeboats!" Annabeth said. "Quick!"

"They'll never get clear of the cliffs," Clarisse said. "We'll all be eaten. "

"We have to try. Percy, the thermos. "

"I can't leave Tyson!"

"We have to get the boats ready!"

Clarisse took Annabeth's command. She and a few of her undead sailors uncovered one of the two emergency rowboats while Scylla's heads rained from the sky like a meteor shower with teeth, picking off Confederate sailors one after another.

"Get the other boat. " Percy threw Annabeth the thermos. "I'll get Tyson. "

"You can't!" she said. "The heat will kill you!"

I stood there. I knew Percy wouldn't leave, not without at least trying to save Tyson.

"Percy!" I yelled to him, I looked into his eye since it may be the last time I do. "I will get Tyson! Get everyone off safely!"

"No! Y/N! Its way too dangerous, you cant w-"

I ran off down to the boiler rooms. Percy tried to run after me but Scylla picked him up.

I went down below the deck, I covered my mouth and nose with my shirt. Flames were everywhere.

"TYSON!" I said screaming with all my might. "TYSON! WHERE ARE YOU!"

No response.

The engine started to make weird noises. I walked through the flames the best I could without being burnt. The heat was making my body burn from inside out. The noises from the engine got louder and louder.

KAROOM!

The ship exploded. Pieces of iron and metal flew everywhere. I was thrown back into the air, I made it 3 yards away from the ship before lading hard on a piece of wall. My legs and arms were filled with cuts and my hair was filled with soot and ash. My head was pounding and my body ached. The ship made another noise and completely exploded. This threw me into the water completely. I couldn't swim up, the water seemed to be pulling me down. I kicked my legs and tried to swim up. I opened my eyes and they instantly started to burn from the salt. I started to panic, the air I was holding in my lungs was running out.

I needed to breathe but I kept falling deeper away from the surface. I abruptly felt a slow cascade of water going up my nose. I held my breath for a while and then had to exhale and-as you might expect—inhale in turn. The inhalation brought the water in causing a tight feeling against my nostrils, as if a huge, wet paw had been suddenly clamped over my face. I was unable to determine whether I was breathing in or out, and it flooded me more with sheer panic. I tried to wave my arms and my legs furiously but I was solidified, like a statue. After a while of not being able to move, I started to see weird colors, then no colors, then pure black.

I woke up on a beach. My eyes fluttered open, I sat up a little too quick. I almost threw up from the quick motion. I was very dazed. I looked at my body and saw my wrecked up legs and arms. Both were scratched and cut up. No serious injuries that I could tell. I stood up and looked along the beach. There was no sign of anyone, not even wood or metal from the ship. I thought back to the ship.

How the hell did I survive that!

I realized I was on an island. The grass was stunningly green, it seemed to sparkle in the sun light. Sun light! There wasn't a hurtling hurricane anymore, the sky was sunny and a bright blue color. Almost fake looking. I walked along the beach and saw a girl. I ran to her needing to know where I was. The girl was standing by a dock that had a bunch of pleasure yachts, there was a U. S. Navy submarine, several dugout canoes, and an old-fashioned three-massed sailing ship. There was a helipad with a "Channel Five Fort Lauderdale" helicopter on it, and a short runway with a Learjet and a propeller plane that looked like a World War II fighter. Maybe they were replicas for tourists to look at or something.
