I. - A Fair Deal

"KYAAAAAHHHH!!!"

She grabbed the blankets and covered her naked self before the suspicious man could turn his head towards her.

Stuttering and shocked, Lorelei asked, "W-Who are y-you? What are y-you doing h-here in my r-room?!"

"Your room?"

The man turned around. Fortunately, Lorelei's body is now covered. He titled his head as if trying to remember if he knows her.

"Have I seen you somewhere? You look oddly familiar," he mumbled, enough for Lorelei to hear.

"No! Who are you?"

"No one." With that, the man left her room.

He didn't even apologize!

Lorelei calmed herself down, trying to make herself believe that that man is another tenant who lost his way to her room.

But that's impossible!

After she changed into her clean clothes, Lorelei went out of her room just to see the man sitting comfortably on her couch.

What the...he's still here?!

"What are you doing?" Lorelei asked.

"Sitting," said the man. "obviously."

"This is not your flat! And what were you doing in my room?"

"Only He knows."

"He?"

The man pointed at the ceiling. "The man from above who sent me here to do a mission before he would set my soul free."

The man said it in a straight face that Lorelei thought he was joking. She laughed and held her stomach.

"I'm not joking."

Lorelei looked at him. "For the nth time, who are you?"

The man stood and pocketed his hands. "Loki. My name's Loki. I already know your name. No need to introduce yourself."

-

"So, you're saying that the Man from above sent you down here to Earth to complete a mission before your soul will be freed from the fires of hell?"

Loki nodded.

"How would I know that you're not scamming me?" Lorelei asked.

Loki stuck out his arm and showed Lorelei a silver bracelet that has been shining since the time he got there.

"Do you see these beads? You may think that it's a thousand, but it's actually just fifty. Once these fifty beads stop glowing until I complete my mission, I'll die. But if these beads would remain glowing until I complete my mission, I'll live," Loki explained. "just earlier, two beads stopped glowing."

"Why?"

Loki looked away. "My mission involves being kind to others. I treated you in a not-so-kind way earlier hence the stopping of the two beads from glowing."

Lorelei nodded as she slowly understood what Loki said.

"Since you know my secret, c-can..." Loki blushed and hid his face. "can you help me?"
