I. - Lover's Quarrel
"Y-You lied to me, Loki!" Lorelei tried to breathe normally but her chest was in pain. Loki tried to approach her but she backed away.
"Lori..." he said, in the most soothing voice he could. "it's a misunderstanding, Lori. Please, listen to me."
"No! You told me that you went to the Police Station with Inspector Estrada earlier this afternoon but he told me you weren't with him. You lied about that. Second! You told me that the reason why you were late on our date earlier was that there was heavy traffic. You don't commute, so I asked Mr. Vasquez if he's driving you. And guess what? He said, "No." Loki, what are you trying to hide from me? Did I do anything wrong and now you're getting back at me?"
"Lori, listen—"
"Save your excuses and tell them to the wall!"
Lorelei slammed her door and hid behind it while bawling her eyes out. Loki on the other hand couldn't find the right way to tell her his reasons behind his obviously fake excuses. He decided to let Lorelei clear up her mind before he tries another shot at explaining.

After an hour of waiting outside her room, Loki immediately stood up when he heard the creaking sound of the door being opened. Standing before him is a worn-out Lorelei, exhausted from crying. Loki tried to hug her, but she slapped his hand away. Nevertheless, he grabbed her arm and hugged her tight.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Lori," Loki muttered. "And now, please listen to my explanation."
"Go on..." Lorelei said.
"I—This was supposed to be a surprise but I guess I can't cover it up anymore. I was planning a dinner date with you in the Mendez Manor. Remember the place where you saw me, my brother, and my father drinking tea after getting out of the escape room with Jamie? It's being decorated with hearts, teddy bears, balloons, and all sorts of those things. And I was the one who decorated them. I couldn't let anyone do it because it's for you, hence, the fake reasons."
Lorelei hugged Loki back as her tears fell on his shoulders. "I-I'm sorry for getting mad without hearing your explanation first. I'm sorry for exploding all of a sudden. I'm sorry—"
Loki kissed her lips to shut her mouth and smiled afterward. "Get changed, Lori. We're going to the Manor."

When they arrived at the Manor, it was already nine. The lights illuminated the garden, adding to the romantic touch of the designs. The classical piece began playing in the background. It was beautiful—no, perfect. Beautiful would be an understatement to explain the garden that Loki himself decorated.
He pulled Lorelei a chair and they began to eat dinner while chatting to each other about the cases they solved.
"I still remember that! That was the first time I heard your brother," Lorelei said and laughed.
"And I remember saying how gorgeous you were in the gown of a royal princess."
Lorelei felt her cheeks blush as she gulped all of the wine on her glass. Loki snapped his fingers and the lights turned dimly lit. The classical music turned into a serenade played by violins. Lorelei's heart raced as Loki went near her and knelt. He opened a small box and there laid a magnificent yet expensive diamond ring.
"Lorencia Lelaine Rios," Loki began. "I fell in love with you the moment I set my sights upon you. We had fought side by side together, solved cases, and now dated. I'd be depriving myself of the opportunity of living with you forever under one roof if I haven't done this. Lorelei, my dearest Lorelei, will you be my Mrs. Mendez for life?"
Lorelei nodded her head as Loki slid the diamond ring into her ring finger.
"A perfect fit," Loki complimented and held Lorelei's waist. "perfect for my queen."
And as their lips met, so did the sounds and lights coming from the fireworks. Valentine's Day, indeed, is the most memorable time for them.
