I. Chocolates and Teddy Bears

Valentine's Day. The day of hearts has arrived. Clark High is bustling with that pesky little thing called "love" again. As Loki walked towards his clubroom, he was scrolling on Twitter and saw hundreds of students tweeting #HappyValentinesDay. While scrolling down, he saw Jamie and Alistair's pictures with each other.

"Them, too?" he mumbled as he rolled his eyes. Once he reached the clubroom, his right hand gripped the doorknob and twisted it, just to see his table full of chocolates, flowers, and love letters. His head titled as he looked at them with disgust written all over his blank face.

"I never knew that you had tons of fans, Loki."

He turned around to see Lorelei scanning his table. The door was wide open and Alistair and Jamie went inside after her. Jamie was awed when she saw the gifts on top of Loki's desk while Alistair couldn't stop chuckling after seeing Loki's reaction.

"Since when did Valentine's Day become a happy one? St. Valentine was executed on February 14th in the 278th AD. What's the relation of happiness to one's death?" Loki said and irritatedly removed the "pieces of garbage" from his table.

"Loki, can't you just appreciate the efforts your fans gave you? To receive gifts on such a special occasion means that people love you," Alistair commented as he placed his arm around Jamie's shoulders. "Jamie and I are going to have a date later in the afternoon. Don't wait for us, okay? You two take care."

With that, they went out of the clubroom, leaving Lorelei and Loki to share the same space.

"Lorelei, help me burn these things later," Loki said with his eyes half-closed. Lorelei mentally face palmed herself, thinking, why can't Loki just accept them?

"Um, Loki?" Lorelei called. Loki turned his head to his companion. "I have plans today—"

"So you're also infected?" Loki cut her short. And by infected, he meant that "thing".

"No, I'm not going on a date or something," Lorelei protested. "I'm having a friendly dinner with one of my Dad's candidates for my engagement."

Loki's eyes widened as he sat straightly. "E-Engagement? Y-You?"

"Yep." Lorelei sighed as she set her sights on a lovely and elegant dinner invitation. "The candidate even gave me an invitation. So, Loki, I can't help you with your burning project."

Loki absentmindedly nodded his head. "I-It's fine..."

It was seven-thirty, and Lorelei's dinner date is starting at eight. The venue's fifteen minutes away from Henson's Apartment, therefore, time is not of the essence at the moment. Lorelei patiently chose from the dresses Nancy sent to their apartment. While fitting the most appropriate dress, three knocks came on her door. She didn't have time to change back into her pajamas and shirt, so clad in her dress, she opened the door and saw Loki standing outside.

"Loki? Do you need something?" she asked. Loki tried to avert his gaze but failed when he saw how gorgeous Lorelei was in her dress. He gulped as he tried to conceal the nervousness he was feeling. He flinched when Lorelei's hand touched his forehead.

"You don't have a fever," she said, withdrawing her hand. "why are you so red?"

"U-Uh... I-I..." Loki licked his lips before giving a huge teddy bear to Lorelei. He hid his face behind it to hide his embarrassment. "F-F-For you... Lori."

The teddy bear had chocolates wrapped around it and in between were letters. Lorelei was about to open one when Loki immediately stopped her.

"Open them when I'm gone, okay?"

He was about to go inside his room when Lorelei held his wrist.

"I thought you hated Valentine's Day? What's with these gifts? Don't tell me these were—"

"Shh." Loki placed his finger on Lorelei's mouth to shut her. "I bought these myself after hearing that you're having plans tonight. I actually wanted to ask you out for a date, but I guess I'm late."

"Loki..." Lorelei's voice trailed off. She kissed Loki on the cheek and smiled widely. "Thank you for these. Valentine's Day always gives me new memories to look back to. And this year? You gave me one. I also want to spend the rest of the day with you if not for that dinner."

Loki smiled mischievously as he leaned closer to Lorelei's face. "Then ditch your date and go out with me."
