Willow yawned, lifting her hand to cover her mouth. The day was almost over, the sun was setting and the sky was golden. Daisy was so tired she was nearly falling asleep on her horse. The two sisters had been traveling for a year and had found that there weren't many other elves and villages outside of their own.

"Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!" Willow tried to get her half awake sister's attention.

"What?" Daisy asked, eyes barely open.

Willow pointed ahead of her, there was a village in the distance.

"You're pointing but I don't see anything, mostly because I'm being blinded by the sun."

Willow rolled her eyes, then transmitted what she was seeing telepathically to Daisy.

"Oh hey! A village!"

"Yeah. Oh wow, it's so exciting now."

"Well I'm sorry I'm more tired than you are and can't see the tiny village obscured by the sun's giant light."

Willow side eyed Daisy and they continued toward the village. Neither one felt like invading the other's headspace, they enjoyed the quiet, and traveling with just each other, well, you can only imagine how much they got on each other's nerves. At first Willow was afraid to be in a new place without her parents and would always want to be close to Daisy in every way. After a few months the girls couldn't stand each other and nearly went their separate ways and kill each other, but then they would remember that they could halve the daily chores.

The way they took to get to the village wasn't a road because there wasn't much nearby. The grass was a spring green and tall. Tall oak trees danced in the gentle summer breeze and played with the sun's golden rays through their leaves and branches. Birds sang their last songs for the day in the distance, their chirps almost like an echo. Willow took in a deep breath of warm, crisp air. She was very tired from traveling on horseback all day, Daisy though, was even more tired for some reason, that or she was being dramatic (Willow assumed the latter).

"Daisy, we're in the village now. Be more awake." Willow said, lifting her mask up over her nose.

"Ugh, this is the worst birthday ever." Daisy still barely had her eyes open.

"Why do you say that?"

"Because we're thousands of miles from home."

"Well we just need to make the best out of it."

"Yes, let's make the best out of our birthday, miles from home where mom and dad are just so happy that we're not home when we planned!"

"Well-"

"And do you know why we're not home when we said we'd be?"

"Because I broke the compass and lost the map..." Willow answered timidly.

"BECAUSE YOU BROKE THE COMPASS AND LOST THE MAP!!!" Daisy yelled, now very awake (Willow having known very well what she was doing).

"Well I technically didn't lose it because I know where it went, it's really the river's fault for destroying it. Now the compass, well that's a different story, it was the horse's fault."

Daisy turned her head toward Willow slowly, giving her a glare that would kill any living being. Willow raised her eyebrows and looked away turning her head towards the road in front of her (she was nervously smiling but you couldn't see under her mask).

"It was-" She said quickly, "OH LOOK a TAVERN!" She turned to look at her sister and saw she was still glaring. Willow laughed nervously, turning forward again. In her defense there was a hole in her bag they didn't know about until the map fell out. What had happened was the compass fell out while on the road and Daisy's horse, who was behind Willow and her horse, stepped on it and broke it. The map fell out of the bag while they were getting water.

Daisy sighed, "Let's just tie the horses up and get a room. Do you at least still have our money?"

"Yes!" She said confidently, then thought for a moment. "Maybe! I'll check."

Daisy rolled her eyes. They tied up the horses and went in. There was a man at the counter cleaning glasses, tables filled with people laughing, drinking, and having small fights. Daisy and Willow went to the counter.

We're getting a room, end of story. Daisy said telepathically to Willow.

Oh come on Dais, It's our birthday! have a little fun. Willow pulled out a few coins. "Two ales please." she said out loud. The bartender looked down at them over the counter. He was very tall and muscular, he had curly orange hair, tied in a ponytail and a beard that was only an inch long and a small mustache.

"You'se two look a wee bit young, how old is you'se?"

"Old enough."

"ah said, how old is you'se."

"...Seventeen..."

"Two ales an' tha'll be it."

"Yes!" Willow put two silver coins on the counter. The two girls waited at the counter for their drinks, Daisy a bit more patient. Willow was practically vibrating where she stood, being 5'2" her chin was just over the counter and her hands were holding onto the edge. Daisy was 5'7" so things were different for her.

Why are you so excited? Daisy asked Willow telepathically.

'Cause this is our first ale.

No it's not, dad would share a bit of his.

Yeah, well, I mean that this is our first. No one else's.

The bartender looked at the girls in confusion, noticing their facial expressions and the way their heads moved as if they were having a conversation. Which they were but he didn't know that. The girls were handed their drinks and went to sit at a booth in the back that wasn't filled. A tall man with a scar on his jaw going down his neck walked over to the girls.

"Hey girls." He said

Wow, he's definitely not the prettiest boy. Willow said.

Nope, that hair isn't even messy in a good way. Daisy responded. "We're not interested in conversing right now so if you would please go elsewhere it would be greatly appreciated."

"Yeah, I don't think so honey."

"Don't make me get up." Daisy said, gripping the handle of her mug, her other hand balling into a fist.

"Oh, a feisty one aren't you- woah!" Daisy stood up and grabbed his hair in one hand, forcing him against the table. Her other hand grabbed his wrists putting them behind his back.

"Ow ow ow! Get off me you crazy bitch!"

"The I suggest you leave me and my sister alone."

"Hey! what d'you think you're doin'?" someone yelled.

"You stay out of this." Daisy said, not looking at him. He came over and hit the table, knocking the girl's ales off. Willow stood up and punched him in the face.

"We only get those two ya jack ass!"

Daisy looked fairly impressed. What'd you hit him for? we're gonna get kicked out!

Maybe you'll be in a better mood if you let off some steam.

Daisy and Willow ended up starting a huge fight, as everyone was hitting someone else the two girls ran outside laughing, getting on their horses and leaving.

"Sorry," Willow said. "Now we have to sleep outside again."

"It's okay, sorry for being so mean to you earlier. You were right though, I do feel better."

"See, I told you so."

"Don't start."
