Willow, get this! Willow, get that! Willow you can't use your "art skills" To make it yourself! Willow thought angrily to herself. She was upset that Daisy made her take all tasks and projects to the professionals in the village. More specifically making the flag. She had it drawn out and everything but it's whatever.
She was about an hour away from the village now. She rode her black horse through the oak forest on the road she and Daisy built. Willow's horse had on an average saddle and a black and purple blanket underneath. The horse had little white spots speckled on it so Willow named him Galaxy and called him Gal for short. Yes, it is in fact very manly for a horse.
She sighed, this trip was so incredibly boring. Please let something happen, she thought to the gods. Of course with her amazing luck, something did happen. There was a sudden thump next to her. Willow pulled on the reigns to stop her horse and looked to her right. Oh, oh no, this is NOT what I meant. She looked in front of her and saw a skeleton hiding behind a tree (or trying because it wasn't doing a very good job). It's bones were purely white and it was holding a plain wooden bow but Willow couldn't see where it was getting these arrows from, it didn't have a quiver. Then it pulled the string back and an arrow materialized.
Willow's jaw dropped. Okay, so maybe undead elves can still use magic. Then another arrow went whizzing past on her left. Okay, this thing just can't aim. Then an arrow was about to hit her chest before she stopped it midair. Lucky shot. This thing could get luckier at any moment if she just stayed put. She slid off her horse and moved him over and tied his reins to a tree so he wouldn't run off. She walked over to be in front of the skeleton, pulling her stone sword out of it's sheath.
She held her sword with both hands and charged. She narrowly missed an arrow by twisting to the side, it flew past her face and cut the black fabric of her mask on the tip of her nose. Willow stumbled forward and swung her sword, closing her eyes. She heard a crack and the sound of the bones falling into a pile. She opened her eyes and saw that she had severed the head from it's neck and cracked the jaw.
"Wow, you got pretty lucky there." She heard a voice say.
She jumped and turned around to see a tall guy sitting in an oak tree, with white hair that covered his left eye. He had a yellow eye which was unusual, and was wearing a lot of black and had earrings that looked melted to his ears, which his ears were oddly long for elf ears just like hers and Daisy's. But the oddest thing was that she couldn't read his mind, that's why she got startled.
"If you were fighting anything with flesh," He explained. "You would probably be dead. Or if that thing had average aim."
"Yeah, probably." Willow admitted. "Who are you? And what are you doing here? I don't think I've seen you in the village before. Are you traveling? Are you coming back to-"
"Please shut up." The guy interrupted. "You're giving me a headache." He reached up to rub his temples as if to show proof that he was annoyed with her.
"Uhh sorry? But I think you should answer my questions to make sure you're not gonna kill me or something." She said matter-of-factly, crossing her arms over her chest after sheathing her sword.
"Who's to say I won't kill you after answering?"
"Okay, listen wise guy, you can't kill me because-"
"What? Because you're so good at fighting? Yeah, that was a real demonstration back there."
Willow was getting really annoyed now. Who was this guy? Where did he come from? Why couldn't she read his mind? And most importantly, why did he choose to bother her of all people?
She sighed wanting to get rid of him. "Where are you headed?"
"I was told that there was a new kingdom not far from here, I was going to check it out. I know your brain is very small," He said bluntly. "But do you know who is to be crowned?"
Willow was about to slap this tall child. "Yes."
He paused for a moment. "Could you tell me?"
She thought about it then decided. "No." Choosing the 'pain in the ass' route.
"No?" He raised his one visible eyebrow, his face still looked tired of this woman's bs.
"No." She repeated.
"Why not?"
"Because."
"We're not doing a guessing game. Tell me now."
"Or what?"
"I don't have time for this." He walked past her. As he walked away she answered under her breath.
He stopped walking. "What was that?"
"I said," She started, "My sister Daisy and I."
He turned his head to look at her over his shoulder. "Now was that really so hard?"
Willow rolled her eyes then immediately remembered she had to get to the village to get stuff done, the longer she stood there talking the more likely she'd be too late and have to wait until tomorrow. Her eyes widening at this sudden 'revelation' and reaching her palms to her forehead. "Ah shit!" Then turned to run to her horse, untying him.
"Yeah, that wasn't smart either, leaving your horse there."
"Listen," She said, brushing a loose lavender strand out of her face. "Welcome to Inmortui but I have places I need to be so good afternoon... I realize now that I don't know your name."
"Call me Levi, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of each other."
"Name's Willow, I'll see you around Levi." Then she rode off toward the village. He seemed like a decent person, but it still bothered her that she couldn't read his mind and his ears were like hers. Weird.
