Chapter Five: Trouble

Dakota's POV

I walk into school with Cassie, we hung out all weekend and I talked to her about what to do with McKay, I may hate the guy but he needs to know what happened

"Maddy didn't answer any of my calls this weekend, do you think she'll be here" I say as we get to my locker

"I don't know, I'm a little worried too from what you told me" Cassie says as she shifts in place

"We'll I need to find her and see wha- never mind" I say as I see Maddy and Kat walking down the hall together, I close my locker and walk over to them

"Maddy I've been trying to reach you, why didn't you call me back" I say as I walk up to her

"I was busy" She says and I look to Kat who looks away from me, she didn't answer my call either and I don't know why

"Ok well can we talk please" I say and she nods and grabs my arm and leads me away from Kat and Cassie

"What was that with Nate....I saw him grab you and walk away" I say and even though she's wearing glasses I can tell she's not meeting my eyes

"We just argued that's all" Maddy's says shyly, I look at her for a second before taking her glasses off to see bags under her eyes

"Yea well it must of been one hell of an argument for you to look like shit, tell me the truth because one it's hot today and your wearing a turtle neck and two you can't seem to look me in my eyes" I say angrily but not at her, at Nate because something in my gut is telling me he did something

"Just leave me alone Dakota I'm fine I'm just on my period" Maddy says as she takes her glasses from me and storms off, I sigh and punch one of the lockers, I hate this feeling I'm having and she's clearly not ok

I walk towards my classroom and see Cassie kissing the guy she was with on the ride on at the carnival

I walk over to him and shove him into the lockers and hold him there

"Listen you fucking freak, leave her alone you've already used her once so back off" I say and he smirks and pushes me off him

"Calm Down Dakota, I was just saying hi" He says before winking at Cassie and leaving, I look at Cassie and shake my head at her

"Cassie what was that" I say

"He kissed me and I was about to tell him off I swear" She says and I sigh and look away from her, I'm not only angry that he kissed her but I'm also jealous

"Ok......let's just go to class" I say, she nods and we head to class together, I have too much on my mind today

I walk out of the office and down the hall with my fists balled up, the principal is asking everyone questions about the carnival because Maddy passed out today but they won't allow me to see her

I keep walking but soon when I turn the corner I'm met with my worst nightmare...my parents

"What are you both doing here" I say angrily

"We wanted to see you sweetheart.....to reconnect"My mother says coming towards me but I back up

"Yea well couldn't this talk that obviously won't go well, happen when I'm jot in school because from what it seems like this is a tactic for me not blow up on y'all in public" I say and my father looks away from me

"Dakota we just want to have our family back....to have you back" My mother says and I look from her to my father

"Do you speak too or are you mute now" I say to him

"I have a voice but your mother is better with words" He says bitterly

"We'll take your words and leave because I'm not reconnecting with you guys, you don't deserve to have me in your life's anymore" I say and walk away from them but I turn back towards them

"Oh and tell your demon spawn that if they show up at my door again, there getting there ass beat" I say and walk away and to the bathroom, I feel the anxiety and nerve starting to overpower me and get to me

I walk into the bathroom and go into a stall and lean against the wall as I try to catch my breath, I may have been calm and collected when I saw them but they are a living trigger for me, I just know how to fake not being fazed

I reach for my phone and put on some rain noises and put my headphones in before closing my eyes, the flashes of them beating me and yelling at me come in through my head before they finally stop

I breath a sigh of relief as I look at the time to see that I missed class, I take a deep breath and leave the stall and the bathroom before walking to my next class

I walk into my house and see Mouse sitting in my couch, I sigh and sit next to him as he puffs out some smoke out of his mouth

"So ya parents are back huh" He says as he passes me the blunt in his fingers

"Yup....my siblings too but I don't want now one hurt alright" I say as I take a hit

"Well if they try and take your money again then someone will....you know I got your back niece" He says causing me to smile

"Yea I know unc.......just dint hurt Fez ok.....he's my friend and he got a lot of shit he has to handle" I say and he nods and laughs as he take the blunt from me

"If he keeps his shot together then I won't....you know how this business works but what I want is you safe and away from my punk ass brother" He says and I nod

"Me too.....he isn't connected to his roots anymore and he's after me in a way I dint know yet" I say as I watch my Uncle text someone before putting it away and getting up

"Well I'll deal with it.....your safe when it comes to them being in charge of you but they like to manipulate people so I got you...that's all I'll say" He says before kissing my forehead and leaving

I sigh and lock the door and watch him leave my driveway

I'm happy I at least have him

A/n ok well that was a twist no one saw coming I hope lol, I'm on a roll with theses and I have a lot to catch up on lol, I lost motivation after watching Euphoria season two so this story may take a turn idk
