Chapter Twenty-Three: Big Break

Dakota's POV

I hold Cassie in my arms as we watch a movie in my room, well I'm watch a movie while Cassie is sleeping soundly after crying and a very long talk with her therapist

I get an alert on my phone causing me to grab it from the beside table and see it's a security alert, I open it up to see Custer standing outside my front door

I sigh and detach from Cassie as I make my way to the living room and to the door before opening it

"Custer what's up and why are you setting my shit off this late" I ask and Custer looks at me nervously

"Yo...I gotta talk to you man...it's serious" He says and I nod before letting him in and closing the door..............

The next day

I walk skate with the girls and smile lightly as I watch Cassie's eat us up on the ice

"Cassie can you not go all ice princess on us please" Maddy says as she struggles to keep her footing, I see Kat talking to a guy on the side since she gave up trying like an hour ago

I skate by Cassie with a slight smile as she guides me a bit, I've skated with her a bit and I've gotten better thanks to her

"You ok Kota...,,you seem off today" Cassie asks and I smile unconvincingly

"Yea I'm....I'm good" I say and Cassie gives me a look

"Don't lie to me....we're honest with each other now" She says as she stops us both in the middle of the ice

"Just think g about my uncle a bit more today...that's all" I say and Cassie but nods and kisses my nose before pulling me with her to skate

We all skate for a few more hours before heading back to Cassie's for a bit, I work on my paperwork for the business a bit as Cassie just watches me and Maddy and the other girls watch a movie

The doorbell rings and Lexi answers, I hear a voice talking to Lexi and I put my laptop down as the girls and I walk out from the den area to see Rue

The girls hug Rue and I just dap her up excuse no offense but she she stinks but I wanna be nice

I look her up and down and I can tell off rip she's going through withdrawals, I look at Lexi who looks just as concerned as Suze now is taking to Rue

I walk over Lexi and she turns to me

"She's going through withdrawals right now...I can tell" I say and Lexi nods, we turn to see Rue going up the stairs

"Suze...call her mom" I say and Suze nods

"Already on it" She says beside grabbing her phone and calling Ms.Bennett, I sigh and go back to my paperwork

As I'm typing on my computer I feel kisses on my cheek and neck causing me to smile, I look over and kiss Cassie back before turning to my computer

"You know.....I'm really proud of you Dakota" Cassie says and I smile a bit

"Thanks...just hope to make my parents proud too" I say and Cassie leans against my shoulder and watches me type once again

"You will" She says softly and the doors open behind us and I hear an older woman talking telling me Rue's mom is here

Suddenly an email comes through on my computer and I frown at it

"Weird....thought they were off today" I say before opting the email to see it's a formal email from my dad

"Weird......we have a meeting coming up in the office and I have to attend" I say before looking to Cassie and she's smiling ear to ear

"This could be your parents officially promoting you....or it's a shot straight to you owning the business" Cassie says and I chuckle a bit

"Can't be....I mean...I'm not ready" I say and Cassie cups my face as I hear commotion in the next room

"You are ready....it's ok to be nervous but you have everything they need and want Kota....so go get your job" She says and I smile at mer and peck her lips

"You really are one of a kind" I say and Cassie smile at me before looking to the girls who come in Loki g rough

"What happened to you guys" I say and they all sigh as they sit down near us

"Rue ran out of here after dropping that Rue saw Kat fucking the guy from skating rink before running off" Maddy says and I look to Kat who looks away from me

"You dumbass" I say disappointedly before going back to my work and the girls yell at Kat some more

After hanging out a bit longer I head back home, I close my door and walk in the living room to see it trashed and some of my weed and money along with some of my jewelry were stolen

"Fuck" I yell as I look around, some asshole stole from me while I was out

I go to my room which is also trashed before checking the security cameras, i rewind it back to see Rue if all fucking people breaking in through my back door and risking my house

I clench my jaw in anger as I try and calm down, she's an addict and she may have some sort of bit debt to pay

Bets not get my parents involved, I can't do that to Ms.Bennett after everything she's done for me

I grit my teeth as I clean up my place and call some places to install better security in my house, I finish things up before checking on Rue's mom and heading to bed

I stare at the ceilings Custers words from yesterday stick in my head, makes me wanna kill Fez if it's true

Yesterday night........

I walk to the living room with Custer as he messes with his fingers nervously, I sit across from him as he rocks back and forth

"You know my loyalty is to you and Mouse right D" Custer says and I nod

"Yea of course...bro spit it out because I do t go time for this" I say and Custer sighs

"Ashtray killed Mouse....he hasn't wanted to tell you and it's been eating at me for weeks now" He says and I lean back as a cold chill comes over my body

"You better not be ducking playing with me right now Custer because I will break yo fuckin nose again" I say and Custer puts his hands up to protect his face

"I know I know it's wild but I was there I mean Ashtray hit me with a hammer, that's why I got my face fucked up right now .....look man I'm sorry for not telling you I just-

I cut him off by punching him in his broken nose causing him to scream out but I cover his mouth and pin him to the wall

"My girl is here...and you will not come near me again....we not cool and I will...kill yo ass I'd you ever step foot near me again...and that goes double for Ashtray and Fez" I say seething with anger and hatred

I don't give Custer time to respond before tossing him out my house and kicking him in his face stomping on his dick, I walk back into my house and slam my door angrily
