Chapter Eight: Threats

Dakota's POV

I sit in Cassie and Lexi's room trying to cool off when suddenly I hear the door slam causing me jump, I hear footsteps coming but I ignore them and continue being on my phone

"Are you ok" I hear Lexi says and I left my head to finally look at her

"No......but I'll be fine" I say before going back to my phone

"You have to tell her Dakota, you can't just keep your feelings in forever...what if she likes you back" Lexi says and I just scoff and stand up

"Yea right, you heard her downstairs Lexi, she's in love with McKay still yet I haven't seen him here for her at all or checking in on her......I'm just gonna have to finally move on" I say defeatedly

"Dakota you know Cassie, you can't believe her on her word because she won't say what's really bugging her, or she'll lie to cover up the true issue...you'll never know if she likes you back if you don't confront her and you know she can't lie to someone's face if she's called out" Lexi says

I just look at her and don't respond, I know she's right but I don't wanna hear that right now, not when there's so much that she doesn't know right now especially about what Cassie is going through...even I don't know what she's going through fully

"She's got a lot going on...and so do I" I say before walking out the room and down the stairs, I look back at the table and see Cassie standing there with Maddy

She stares at me with so much in her eyes it I can't deal with this right now, I look at her one more time before leaving and heading back to my house

I walk in and see my uncle Mouse sitting on the couch

"You know I really gotta talk to y'all about coming in my house like this" I say walking over to my bar and gettin my stuff to roll up

"What's that shit you talkin about watching ya parents" He says and I look at him briefly before looking back down at want I'm doing

"I just need you to watch them that's all" I say dismissively

"Nah......did they come here and talk to you cause I told you, they will feed into whatever you want and fuck with ya head till they done" He says getting up and coming over to me

"I'm aware but.....something felt different this time, like they really wanna try with me but don't worry I'm watching my back hence why I said to watch them" I say as I take a hit from my blunt (a/n I cringed at myself for that....✨blunt✨)

"You can't trust them Dakota, look at what they did to you after you just wanted to be yourself, what's gon happen if you take them back in" He says frustratedly

"We don't know but I've got a plan.....just bare with me ok they are my parents...it wasn't all bad" I say, Uncle Mouse just shakes his head and leaves causing me to take a hit of my blunt then blow the smoke out in frustration

"So you talk to you Uncle yet man, he came by and I gotta make a lot of money to push so weight but I wanna keep it lowkey" Fez says and I can tell he's freaking out

"Man I haven't, I've been caught up with a bunch of shit, I know you don't depend on nobody but let me help, how much he talking about" I say and Fez sighs and I already know what he gon say

"I don't want you involve Kota, he's talkin about 10% on the big and he's gonna collect it in a month, he didn't give me a choice either...I'm not tryin to go higher right now especially with Rue wantin me to talk to Nate" Fez says and I suck my teeth

"Bro I can handle the Nate situation bruh but you need to let me help at least this one time" I say but Fez isn't goin for it

"Nah man...look just try and cover my back.....aren't you connected with ya parents again like aren't they some big business people or something" He says

"Nah man I can't, that's backstabbing my uncle, look let me talk to him and he can take some weight off alright" I say  as Fez lets out a breath, I know he's tired of my uncle on his back but I can only do so much without getting involved

"Fine man but be safe with that Nate shit" He says and hangs up, I take a deep breathe before grabbing my jacket and heading out, I may not fuck with Rue and Jules like that but he's messin with Maddy and I can't have that

Nor can I have Nate fucking with Fez

I go to grab my jacket when suddenly I get a text from Cassie

Cassie<3: I told him....he wants me to get rid of it

I sigh heavily and rub my face in frustration, I knew he was gon want her too but I understand why

Me: what's do you wanna do

Cassie<3: I'm still deciding but if I do, can you come with me

Me: of course

I put my phone away and walk out to my car and get in, I check Maddy's location and head down to the convenient store that Fez runs, I see Nate's truck and I park next to it and get out

I see him looking around and I se Fez eying him  and me, I dap up Fez and walk over to Nate and look for a drink

"So....you got away with assault huh" I say as I look around and find a pineapple Fanta and grab it

"I see you miss fucking my girlfriend" He says as he gets his stuff and turns to me

"I don't but I'm open to doing it when you inevitably fuck up again....but this time I hope it's permanent that y'all stay broken up" I say trying to him so now we're face to face

"Oh...looks like you have a thing for Maddy but I hope you know that's never gonna happen, she's mine and it's finna stay that way" He says and I smirk at him

"I don't have feelings for Maddy...but I don't like seeing her hurt...I didn't like seeing that bruise nor do I like seeing you fuck with peoples lives" I say and I  can see him gulp telling me he's scared to be exposed

"I can tell you care about a bunch of people and that you'll take care of them any way you can.....that's very admirable of you" He says but I can tell he's trying to get in my head

"Its also very cowardly of you that you can't seem to understand basic things all because of something your afraid to explore.....or accept" I say reference his sexuality

"You have a good day and....I hope you can protect the people around you" He says as he looks at me with a smile and pays for his stuff, I see Fez look at me worriedly but I just watch as Nate walks out and to the car before driving off

"Yo...ion got a good feeling about this" Fez says as he comes over to me

"Neither do I....for once Ima need my parents" I say worriedly

Something about his wording didn't seem right
