Cheering, Yachi put her hands in the air. "Alright! They did it!"
"Yesss!" Ukai pumped his fist. "Way to go, Hinata, Kageyama!"
Akaashi stared at the duo. '...It seems like a rough direct delivery at first glance... and then, it changed, becoming as if the ball were being carefully delivered into the spiker's strike zone.'
"Huh! Was it really that incredible?! Couldn't we do it too?!" Bokuto asked, grinning.
"That... isn't something we should imitate," the second year answered, making his partner confused. "Hinata hits it like it's nothing, but I think that toss would be hard to hit unless you were sufficiently used to it. Also, a feat like halting the toss where it's hit is beyond my skill level."
Kageyama stared at Hinata with an annoyed look. 'Dammit, I got dragged into his pace again...'
"What?! You wanna go?!" Hinata yelled. "But man, that was amazing! It stopped right in front of me, y'know?! It was all like SHOOM! This time, I definitely felt it coming, but when it stops right in front of you for real, it's scary y'know?!" His eyes sparkled. "You really are incredible!"
"!!?" Kageyama was broken. "...Wh-What the heck, you moron!"
"I'm not quite sure what to make of Kageyama's expression," Daichi mumbled.
"What the heck is going on with his face?" Tanaka wondered.
"Hinata generally doesn't come right out and praise him after all," Asahi commented.
"Tobio isn't used to his compliments, but man, to think he'd get this flustered." (Y/N) chuckled.
Smiling brightly, Hinata clenched his fist. "One more time!"
This seemed to motivate the others.
"Dammit, you're makin' me jealous! Let me score too!" Tanaka hollered.
Noya joined in. "We're not gonna lose! Let's keep going!"
"Hey hey heeey! Don't get ahead of yourselves now~!" Bokuto boomed.
"UOOOOH!!!" "HEY HEY HEEEEY!"
Kenma stared at the scene with an excited expression. "Shoyo... always has something new up his sleeve."
Kuroo's eyes widened. "If that shorty were on our team, I bet you'd be a bit more motivated too," he said, a hand on his chin.
"I couldn't ever be on the same team as Shoyo."
"Why's that?"
"I wouldn't be able to keep up with Shoyo, who feels a constant need to improve. No matter how good I am at slacking off, Shoyo would probably figure it out. Even that genius first year setter hesitated for only a moment, but Shoyo still saw through it. That sorta thing would wear me out," Kenma explained and then sighed heavily. "Besides, the only person who could slack off without getting caught by him would be (Y/N). She's that type of person who can pull it off easily and not get caught by Shoyo's animal instincts. "
"Hmm? Well then, if shorty were your practice partner as an opponent, it would get you motivated too, wouldn't it?" Kuroo suggested.
"Why do you say that?" Kenma asked, tilting his head.
"When you're watching one of shorty's matches, your face looks the same way it does when you're starting a freshly-bought game, y'know," Kuroo answered, surprising the younger boy.
"...Not really. And what sort of face is that anyway?"
"An excited one."
"A what? You're not making any sense."
