What Happens in the Imperial Palace part 3

Main Palace

Athanasia's Pov

I went to dad after breakfast. As I walked to the office, I notice that people were gossiping, so I went over to them and ask. "What's happening?"

"Princess." They said as they bowed to me and added, " It's nothing. We just heard something about his majesty."

"I'm listening. Don't worry I won't say that I heard it from you." I said as I smiled. They then looked around to see if anybody else was listening in.

They then said, "the head maid of the Ruby Palace asked his majesty to send a letter to the duke about the second princess's tantrums."

"Tantrums? Isn't that a sudden outburst." I said as I acted clueless.

They then added, "Apparently it was caught on a memory stone. His majesty is looking at it right now."

"Oh, well then I guess I better go see it for myself then. I'll see you later." I walked away and smiled. 'Thank you, Emma, you're the best.'

(Knock knock) I then opened the door to see dad very displease while looking at the memory stone. I covered my mouth and said, "that is not the way for a princess to behave."

I looked at him and ask, "did you call the duke already?"

"........" Wow! To think he would be too annoyed to even answer me. Wait, the Duke might use this opportunity to give Jennette some assistants. I can't let that happen. A messenger then came in announce, "your majesty the duke has arrived."

When I saw dad stood up, I then said, "can I go with daddy."

......

"Sure, let's go." I grab his hand and held it until we got to the throne room. Where a lot of nobles gathered around outside. However, I didn't expect to see Jennette here too. I looked at the situation and the duke didn't seem too please with Jennette. I saw Felix about to close the door and told him to leave it open.

Jennette and the duke bowed, and she said, "thank you for granting me an audience father. I was worried about you since you didn't come to see me."

Oh, my she doesn't seem to be aware of the situation. She smiled brightly as if there was nothing wrong. She didn't even seem to notice that dad was glaring at her. As we both kept quiet Jennette ask with a beam. "Father, can I get more servants. Maybe some of the once from the mansion."

Duke Alpheus tried to save face by saying, " Jennette!"

I opened my mouth slowly and said, "Jennette are you saying that the duke's servants are better than the once we have here in the palace?"

"No, sister I didn't mean it like. You misunderstood me."

What do you mean I misunderstand? I understand it completely, you want to get a handle on the situation. I felt dad glance at me, and I said with a smile. "Jennette, you have only been here for less than two days. It's clear to see that you're still adjusting. Just give it some time."

The duke found a gap and said, " perhaps princess Jennette's transition would be made easier. If she has some familiar face with her. I don't mind sending some of my servants here to help take care of the princess."

I held dad's hand and he immediately caught on to what I was trying to say. As he said to them, " no. She has to adjust to living here not the other way around."

He then glared at Jennette and said, "I don't want to hear any more disgraceful behavior from you. I don't want to see your face get out!" Jennette shivered as she left with the duke.

Normal Pov

As the duke and the second princess left the throne room, he notices that the door was wide open. Meaning the nobles outside heard everything as they got out, he saw sir. Felix standing by the door. The duke's mouth thin and his eyes narrowed as he saw another unpleasant sight. The nobles all around them were whispering. He heard some of what they were saying.

Things like, "she's a disgrace to the royal family throwing a tantrum like that."

"I know you would think that the duke would have raised her well considering, he brought her here."

Ruby Palace

When the two reached the Ruby Palace, the duke waited until they were in the lounge to scold Jennette.

"What were you thinking?! Throwing a tantrum like that! From now on everything you do will be scrutinize, so think before you act!" Jennette kept her head down as the duke yelled at her. When he was done, he notices the lack of attention the maids had on her. When he saw her at the Main Palace, he couldn't believe his eyes. Jennette's appearance was not that of a proper princess. Her hair was untidy as if she just got out of bed and her dress was so plain.

Thinking back after her appearance before the emperor today. It would be clear to the nobles that the emperor has already forgotten about Jennette.

The duke then thought, ' it's still too early to give up on her.'

He then said, "Jennette raise your head. Don't forget that you have as much authority as princess Athanasia. You should try to use it." The duke stood up and then left.

A Few Days Later

Jennette called the maids and said to them that she would be hosting a tea party. Emma the head maid then said, "have you asked his majesty's permission?"

"No, not yet. I thought I didn't need to ask." Jennette said.

Emma looked down on her and said, "everything in here goes through the emperor. You'll do well to remember that."

"When will my dresses be arriving?"

Emma's eyes narrowed as she said, " How long do you think it takes to make several dresses?" The maids in the background rolled their eyes. As it was a stupid question to ask considering the second princess has only been there for a few days.

Meanwhile

Emerald Palace

"Wow! Look at all these invitations." Athanasia said as she smiles. She then looked at Lillian and ask, " should I go to one of these parties first or should I throw my own then go to one of these gatherings?"

Lillian then said with a smile, "I think it would be best to go to one before hosting one yourself princess. So that you already know what to expect when you decide to host one."

The princess smiled and said, "your right Lily. Which one do you think I should accept first......By the way do you know how many invitations Jennette got."

As Hannah came up to her and said, "I don't think she got one."

"Not one." Athanasia said, she then thought, 'that's what you get for throwing tantrums and there is also the fact that so many nobles saw your ragged appearance. When you came for your audience with dad.' She then inhaled her tea's fragrance and drank it happily.
