Chapter Fifteen

I finish dinner and dish it out, let's say everyone wanted thirds, Fry was so thankful and he was so sweet bless him.

Whilst everyone was eating their second filling I went to Chuck holding a bag under my shirt. I pull him away from the table and into the shadows "take this to Tommy" I order him.

He looks up at me smiling and takes the bag and runs off into the darkest toward the pits.

I sit down at the table beside Newt and opposite Minho and the others. Newt holds my hand under the table and I think Minho notices because he kicks my foot.

I look up in annoyance "can I help you Minho?" I ask as politely as possible, and it comes out very sarcastic.

"Got yourself a boyfriend have you?" He snickers.

I point try clean fork at him, I don't want to eat anything. "Stay out of it Slinthead" I spit.

He puts his hands up in defensive "just saying, you guys look good together anyway"

"Who looks good with who?" Gally asks joining the conversation.

Minho points his food filled fork at Newt and I and then under the table. Gally looks down and then realises "oooh" he says in realisation.

I nod "keep up klunk head" now I'm really getting used to this slang.

He points his forks at me "I wouldn't even be surprised if you already hooked up with him already"

I practically choke on my own salvia and the Gladers go silent around us. Newt chokes out his food and I release his hand to hit his back.

"What did you say Slinthead?" I ask angrily.

"I'm kidding, jeez Shank" he says shrugging and stands up and leaves.

I sit there practically zoned out, I'm confused right now, that made no sense.

As morning dawns by the two Runners leave and our normal day begins. Though as it reaches afternoon a slight twist interrupts the schedule.

Newt and I follow a group of boys to the tree house and I watch as the girl begins to throw down rocks, fruit and various other items.

We were just talking about Alby and his conditions when we saw people running around shouting like idiots.

"She must have some endless supply up there" Fry says from under the protection of some wooden.

Some boys have managed to get hold of crate lids and have used them as shields. I burst out laughing and tumble onto the floor rolling in laughter at how stupid they look.

I wipe tears away and stand up "aren't you going to help?" Gally shouts.

I turn shaking my head and stand beside Newt "Nahh, it's amusing watching you guys run away in fear off a girl who has no authority"

"Girls are awesome!" Chuck shouts and I laugh patting his back.

Newt sighs "I don't think she likes us that much"

"If you think she's awesome then you should find out what I'm really capable of" I smirk.

Newt shakes his head "if only"

Suddenly we hear footsteps and I see Minho and Thomas have returned from the Maze "Its the girl" I say simply.

"Go away!" She shouts and throws down a rock, it hits Gally's head and a few people snicker.

"Hey hey hey!" Tommy shouts "it's Thomas, it's Thomas!" He shouts shielding his face with his arms.

The objects stop coming over the edge of the tree house and we look up lowering the shields to see her peeking over the edge.

"I'm going to come up ok" he shouts and turns to Gally who also steps forward "alone" he adds.

I watch as he slowly begins to climb the ladder and I turn "let's go back to work guys" I call.

Fry let's out and long sigh "if all girls are like that, then I don't know how we've trusted Billie all these years" he mumbles under his breath thinking I can't hear him.

"I heard that Fry!" I shout in response and a few people laugh.

"No but seriously, are all girls like?" He asks Zart and I laugh heading back toward the Homestead.
