Chapter Two

I step back and wipe my forehead of sweat, smiling as I examine the building. I sigh as I walk inside and begin to examine its structure. I've been working in this thing for a good few weeks now.

I've sorted out food supplies, the animals and somewhere for me to sleep. It's a single story for now, though when I get more supplies I'll continue to build.

I then grab my hammock and tie it to a set of posts, though just as I finish tying the last rope an alarm goes off and I yelp falling forward and knocking the hammock off.

I groan as I sit up, "the supplies!" I exclaim happily and I stand up and run outside and toward the box as fast as I can.

I can't believe it's been a whole month, I also found my name. Billie. It's odd for a girl to be called Billie.
Oh did I not mention that?

I watch as the first set of doors open up and then I proceed to open the second. I jump down and examine the boxes. Then I see a note attached and I grab it reading it.

"Take care, the Gladers will continue to arrive"

That's all there is. I hear a gasp from air and I jump turning and looking down to see a boy sitting on the floor.

I didn't notice him, he has a darker skin tone with big brown eyes. I crouch down and smile "welcome to the Glade, I'm Billie"

I get the boy out of the box and I make him sit in the newly built building whilst I hoist the supplies out of the box.

As I finish I turn wiping my forehead and I see the boy standing there "I'm Alby"

I nod grinning and hold out my hand "it took me two days to find my name, it's good to meet you"

He nods and shakes my hand "do you want some help?"

With the extra pair of hands I manage to get everything finished so much more quickly than when I first arrived. I show Alby around and then I explain the Maze.

"What's out there?" He asks as we sit in a log by the fire.

I shrug and take a sip of my drink "no clue"

"You haven't been out there?"

I shake my head "I wasn't allowed, well not yet anyway"

He nods and we sit there in silence. Then after we finish our food we decide to make a few more buildings. Buildings for jobs, sleeping huts, a place for animals and a kitchen.

We also discovered that we can send a note down in the box asking for supplies and they'll send it to us.

By the time the month is over the Glade looks like a civilised place and then we receive not one but a group of boys in the box.

Strange.
