Lorelei's POV: It continued to rain for a long time, then the waves started getting a little violent. The bingo board was holding up fairly well but it was getting pushed around a lot and I almost fell off. Dylan and I had no idea where we should go, we didn't have a map or a compass and both my and Dylan's phones had run out of batteries. It was so cloudy that we couldn't read the stars or tell when the sun was rising and setting. But it was bad enough that both of us smelled like fish, sweat and... well, teenager. Suddenly a huge wave came up over us.
"Dylan!" I screamed turning towards him.
"Lori! Watch out!" He said his eyes big, the wave was about to come up against my back when Dylan grabbed me and pulled me up to his chest. He held me as tight as possible as the wave knocked us off the raft.
**************************************************************************
I woke up on a beach. Dylan's arms were wrapped around me and I was pulled so close to him there wasn't any space between us. I pulled out of his arms and sat up. I didn't know how I had gotten here. Were there other people here? What happened? All I could remember were flashbacks of a giant ship, a cruise ship? The only people I remembered were my mom (I could tell it was my mom because I saw her smile, the way she laughed and her posture and movements, the way she acted around me, I know how to read people to know what they are thinking, what's happened in their past and what they're like I guess you could say I'm a people person) and Dylan, Dylan was the only person I really remembered. I turned to face Dylan, "Dylan, wake up!" I grabbed his shoulders and shook him gently."Who- what- how- where- where are we?" Dylan stammered.
"I don't know." I said calmly, I couldn't panic until Dylan was fully awake. "I just woke up." I told him.
"Well um, what should we do?" He said sitting up.
"I have no idea but we should probably find something to eat or at least something to drink." I said, "Maybe we can find out if this is an island, or maybe find out where we are." Dylan nodded and got to his feet.
"Good idea" Dylan said quietly. It looked like the sun was either rising or setting but I wasn't sure, I would just have to wait and figure out.
We walked across the beach and figured out that the sun was rising, we still had to find somewhere that would be safe to sleep, we didn't know if we were on a island or not."Where do we start?" I wondered out loud. "I mean I guess we should try to get to somewhere high so we can find out where we are, right?"
"Yeah, but do we like climb a tree or a hill or what?" Dylan said confused.
"I guess find a tall tree." I figured that was the easiest way.
"Race you!" Dylan shouted sprinting towards the closest tree. I laughed and ran to a tall-looking tree and started climbing, Dylan was faster than me running but I was better at climbing, we finally reached the top of the trees and took a look around. It was beautiful. "Wow" Dylan said breathless, "Why don't we do this more often?!" He said staring out into the distance.
It was defiantly an island because I could barely see the edges of the island if I squinted and it seemed to be deserted. "Well now that we know we're on an island, we're probably going to die, so how do we avoid that?" I said enthusiastically"Food, water, and shelter" Dylan said calmly. "We can try to build a fire but I don't know if that will work." Dylan fingered his leather necklace that had a shark tooth on it, it had been his brothers favorite necklace, his brother went to war in Afghanistan and gave it to him for safekeeping, his brother never came back.
"Ok let's get started!" I said as I began to climb back down the tree. When I reached to grab a branch I missed by a couple inches, I slipped, and slid all the way down the tree trying to hold on and use my leg to slow me down, when I reached the ground my shin had a three inch long cut starting from where my boots ended to my knee, the rip in my jeans was almost depressing, "oooooowww" I sang to dismiss the pain. Blood started soaking my jeans.
"Lori are you ok?" Dylan ran over to me, "No your not." he answered for himself. "Sit down." he instructed. "Uuuum we need to wrap it up with something to stop the bleeding, if we can find a fresh water river somewhere we can wash it. But for now this'll have to work." Dylan took his shirt off and wrapped it around my leg, he tied it tight and helped me up. "Shall we?" Dylan said letting me lean on him to walk. I put my arm around his shoulders and began to walk/limp as best as I could.
