Lorelei's POV: Dylan had found a way to bring water to me because he was to stubborn that he wouldn't let me come with him (by the way well done Dylan.) however I still felt bad that Dylan had given me his shirt to cover up my cut, but when he did i hadn't given it any thought I just wanted him to cover up the blood.
It had been two days since we washed up on the island and Dylan had found a banana tree somehow and we had been living off bananas and water from the stream he found. It would work for a while but we needed to find a way to slice and sharpen things so we could go hunting and so we would have protection against any animals or humans (if there were any which there seemed not to be) who might want to attack us. We had slept in the cave for two nights and it wasn't that bad. I woke up to see the sun shinning and Dylan next to me sleeping peacefully, somehow he never snored. He only did sometimes when he was sick. I gently shook him to wake him up and he grunted and put his arm over his eyes to block the sun. "Dylan you have to get up!" I said shaking him a little harder."But I'm still tired". He said sleepily.
"And I'm still stuck on this island, however there's nothing I can to about it. I guess both of us aren't gonna be happy today" I said taking his arm off his head. He grunted a little more and sat up.
"So how are we gonna not die today?" He said grumpily. I laughed a little and limped over to the clay bowl. Well first off you can go get more water, and food."I will if you let me sleep first." Dylan remarked.
"You can sleep tonight!" I said enthusiastically, "When it's time to sleep!" I rolled my eyes.
"Ugh fine" Dylan said as he got to his feet. "I'll be back" he started walking through the the vines when I thought of something.
"Dylan wait!"
"Your letting me go back to sleep?"
"No your not fully awake, if you didn't see something dangerous because your not fully awake it would be my fault"
"So?"
"So" I said as I walked over to him. I slapped him across the face just hard enough that it woke him up but it would only hurt for a couple seconds.
"Ow what the heck!" Dylan said as he brought his hand to his face to make sure it was still there.
"There your awake now!" I said smiling and tilting my head to the side.
"Oh thanks" Dylan said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. He walked out and I sat back down. It was gonna get pretty boring without him. It had been the last two days. I lay down and looked at the sky I watched the clouds pass by and as the sun came up I decided that I would be helpful in some way. I didn't know how but I was determined to find something to do that would benefit both me and Dylan. But what? Maybe I could try and build a hut for if it rains.
I walked through the vines and out into the open. It was nice to not be enclosed in walls for once. I looked at the trees and tried to find one that had good leaves for weaving a roof. Over there!
I found a tree with leaves about an inch wide and three or four feet long. Perfect. But how was I going to get all the way up there, I couldn't use my legs so I would have to find a way to climb it using only upper body strength. It was a good thing I'm a gymnast and I have to have upper body strength for a lot of things because I was gonna need all of it.
There weren't any branches that were low enough for me to grab onto with my hands. The tree was eleven or twelve feet tall and pretty thin. I tried to wraps my hands around the trunk and pull myself up but it didn't work, I couldn't move the rest of my body after my arms without my legs.
I saw a shorter tree that was next to an even shorter tree, next to the tree I had found. (I know a lot of things I explain are confusing but if you could try to understand that would be awesome👌) I walked over to the shortest tree and grabbed onto the lowest branch, I swung up and grabbed the next highest branch. I continued until I was as high as I could get. Then I climbed to the other tree. I got as high as i could on that one until I got to the tree that had the leaves I wanted. I climbed onto the tree and carefully plucked off several of the leaves, I grabbed enough that if I lined them up they were as wide as they were long. I climbed back down while holding the leaves, which was very hard. Considering that I still couldn't use my legs. Once I reached the bottom branch of the shortest tree I paused. How was I going to get down without landing on my foot? I gripped the branch and slowly lowered myself to the ground, I was a foot away from the ground. Was it safe to drop? Could I land on my right foot instead of my left (which was the one whose ankle rolled) I minus well give it a try. I let go of the branch and dropped to the ground. I landed on my right leg but then lost my balance and fell down. "Ooooowww" I said standing up. I carried the leaves back to the plateau and left them there. Now I just had to find something I could hold the weaved leaves up with like a branch or something. I started looking until I realized that it was getting dark so I went back to the plateau and started weaving the leaves, I would just have to find some branches tomorrow. As I continued weaving I thought about something. Dylan was late. Again.
