Before either of the Duke boys knew it, they were chasing closely after a green sedan, speeding down Hazzard's backroads. Giving chase to their unskilled rival was easy, trying not to lose the camouflaged car through the woods was a different story. They chased him through twists and turns in the road, trying to keep sights on him, until, eventually, he disappeared from sight.

After driving aimlessly for a mile or two, General finally spoke for the first time that day. "You lose him?" he asked.

Bo and Luke exchanged glances, each of them glancing at the General's dashboard.

"So, he speaks!" Luke said incredulously.

General sighed. "I'll help you look."

Bo smiled and whooped. "Much obliged General!"

General revved his engine. "Glad I can be of service."

With that said, General took off down the road again, looking to and fro, glancing down side trails and up bumpy hill roads. After a few moments of this, General took a turn down an old cattle trail, engine rumbling as he slowed and eventually stopped.

Bo and Luke climbed out, Luke looking around the clearing and Bo sitting down on top of General's hood.

"Well, now what?" Bo asked.

"You got anythin' General?" Luke asked, nodding to the car.

Bo slid off the hood, General shaking himself. "I don't get it, the tire tracks come in this way and don't leave, he musta turned off somewhere."

"Or I'm right behind you."

Bo and Luke looked at each other and sighed, Luke turning and looking up at the edge of the clearing. There stood the fake Luke above them on the ridge with a shotgun and a wicked grin.

They each raised their hands, Bo flashing him a friendly grin.

"Ah, you ain't fixin' to use that gun on us, are you?" he asked in a level voice.

Abel smirked, taking a few steps down the ridge and into the clearing. "No, but I am fixin' to use it on your car there."

The fake Luke quickly racked a slug and took aim, General swerving just in time for the buckshot to hit his fender instead of his radiator, which would have been fatal. General circled the clearing, driving back to the trail in, waiting for the Duke boys. He was about to turn back until he heard Luke, the real Luke, yell after him, "Run General!"

Before making his run, General glanced in his rearview mirror one last time, seeing the fake Luke taking aim with his shotgun and the real Luke jumping in front of it. Then, as he'd done so many times before at so many races and road rallies, he sped away at the sound of a gunshot.

General was racing back towards town when Enos stopped him, not that he'd been paying attention to his speedometer. At first, he was determined to simply outrun him and just run back to Cooter's, but Enos sped ahead of him and cut him off. And, although the deputy couldn't understand a word he was saying, he got the message across and ended up with a police escort to the garage.

Upon their arrival at the garage, General looked into the double doors to see a flash of crimson among welding sparks. He began to get a sinking feeling in the pit of his oil pan but held it together and honked for his mechanic friend. A moment later, Cooter was standing with them in the garage's driveway, his skin and clothes filthy from the garage floor and welding. He first looked at General then at Enos.
