We were stuck in traffic approaching the Brooklynn Bridge. We were barely moving and I somehow got stuck in between Reed and Johnny in the back while Sue got to ride up front next to the driver. It really wasn't fair, especially with Johnny "accidentally" touching my right boob every five seconds. "Will you please cut that out?" I ask after the sixth time. He just smirked at me and did it again. "Johnny I swear to God, one more time and I'm throwing you over this bridge, then we'll see if you can really fly."
"Will you two please just stop and get along?" Reed said, gritting his teeth. I don't I've ever seen him this on edge and I was the one who helped him prepare for finals in high school. Something up the bridge has caught everyone's attention and they start exiting their cars. We all follow suit, following the mass of people towards the center of the bridge where the NYPD has set up a blockade.
"I wonder what's going on up there." I mention. They weren't letting anyone through though, so we had to come up with an alternative plan. "What are we going to do now?"
"We're not going to be able to get pass those guys. But you could." Reed says to Sue. She focuses and begins to disappear. Well most of her does. Soon she's just a floating clothes display. "Sue, your clothes. Lose them."
"Oh right." She says like it's the most natural thing in the world and then she starts to strip. I'm doing my best to look anywhere but in front of me. Johnny has taken it a step further and has his face hiding in my neck.
"This is so wrong." I can't help but agree with him, patting his head comfortingly.
As more and more people notice the floating clothes Sue loses her focus, shifting in and out of visibility. My brother is among those ogling her as she becomes completely visible again. "Have you been working out?" he asks. I slap his arm.
Sue grabs her blazer and uses it to cover herself as best she can. "Anymore great ideas? Why don't you strip down and have a hundred people stare at you?" She was so angry she hadn't even noticed that she had become invisible again.
"Sue!" I say, catching her attention.
"What?" I motion for her to look down. "Oh." she says as she notices that her body is no longer there. She undresses the rest of the way
"I'm going to need therapy." Johnny whines as he stoops down to gather Sue's clothing.
"You probably should've been in therapy before now." I joke. He makes a face at me and we chuckle.
"Hey, come on! Let's get out of here." Reed says and leads us behind the barricade while everyone is distracted by Sue.
"I still can't believe you made me do that!" she complained as she got redressed.
"We got through, didn't we?" Reed stated.
"Hey, mom and dad! Can you fight later? We are kind of in the middle of something." I ask sarcastically. They both give me a look but I make Johnny laugh. "Let's find Ben." We all split up, Johnny and I taking one side, Reed taking the other and Sue hopping onto a car to get a clearer view of the whole bridge.
"Ben!" Sue shouts out, hoping he'll answer. Standing there, in the middle of a group of police with their guns drawn, was a giant orange rock that looked up when Sue yelled.
"Oh Ben." I whispered. A little girl started crying out for her mom, her jacket caught in the door and her mom nowhere to be found. I saw an oxygen tank that must have rolled off one of the fire trucks, was rolling towards her, and a fire that was behind her. "Johnny!" I yell, pointing at the girl. He jumps into action, literally, and shields her just in time as the tank rolls too close to the open flame and bursts, covering this part of the bridge in a fiery inferno and sending flames sky high.
