LaytonxTaehyung
Forbidden Series Book#5⚠️Before you go any further, Layton is adopted :)
"What am I supposed to do, Layton? I can't keep watching this happen. It isn't benefitting either one of us."
"You do nothing, Taehyung. There is nothing that we can do. We date other people, we let ourselves be happy with them and get over this."
Taehyung shakes his head as his eyes water. "No. You don't get to do this to me. You don't get to hurt me. You don't get to hurt yourself like this."
He watches her walk around his apartment, grabbing all of her things that have ended up here. Her books, her phone charger, two of her bonnets, her lip gloss pouch, a lot of her clothing.
"What can we do, Taehyung? This is weird! This is wrong! We can't do this. What are we supposed to tell everybody if it continues?" She looks to him for answers. He swallows thickly but cannot provide a single one. All he knows is that he doesn't want her to go.
She continues to throw her things into her bag and he stares at the ground. He holds the promise ring between his fingers as the tears fall. She only wore for it six days. Six quick days before it was back in his possession.
"Layton, please." His voice is quiet, broken. A replica of his beating heart. It stops her in her tracks. She forces the lump in her throat down. Her mother told her that he would be this way.
"Taehyung, we can't. We are siblings."
"Only because that's a convenient reason for you to leave me. It's a viable excuse but I am not your brother."
"You are, Taehy-."
"You were adopted at 15 and we were raised in the same household. Your mother is getting in your head, Layton and you're letting her do it." His frustration level is rising, melting away his usual calm, nonchalant demeanor.
"Maybe that's a good thing. She's helping me see that this is wrong!"
"No, she isn't. She's trying to pull you away from our family. You haven't referred to me as a sibling in months. I wasn't your sibling two months ago when you told me you loved me and I damn sure wasn't last week when we made love until four in the morning."
"Stop!" Layton shouts as she cries. "That shouldn't have happened." She says, referring to the sex.
"And I do love you, Taehyung...."
He shakes his head. "Don't.."He glares at her. Both of their faces are stained with tears and swollen from crying.
"...just not in that way." She finishes her statement and his heart shatters. He looks at the ring in his hand and balls it in his fist before putting his hand in his pocket.
She zips her bag up and puts her shoes on. Taehyung speaks as her hand touches the doorknob.
"You can't come back from this. If it breaks, it shatters. If you leave, we're done."
The words pierce through her and she can't help the hurt that they cause. The urge to drop her things and run to him is very strong. But her sudden sense of willpower is much stronger.
She twists the knob and he closes his eyes.
" I love you, Layton."
She hears his words as she walks out the door. It closes behind her and she stand with her back against it. Taehyung walks over with a shaky breath. His eyes squeeze shut, forcing more tears out.
He's mentally begging for her to recant before he makes his final move.
On the other side, Layton's mind swims as her heart breaks. Filled with so many different thoughts and emotions, she wishes that he would shake her out of them. But that isn't like him. He would never put his hands on her that way.
When the lock clicks, she knows that it's over. She walks down the stairs and puts her things into her car. She drives to her mother's house and cries.
The woman hugs her as she does it.
"I know, sweetheart. But it's for the best. Those people have taken you as far as they can go. You need to be with your real family now."
Layton continues to cry as she's held. Her mother looks to her father and he crosses his arms as he leans against the wall.
He doesn't understand why she's crying. The Kins were never supposed to keep her. She's not their child, they didn't help create or bring her into the world.
There's no way that family loves and cares for her the way they play it out for the public.
He believes the love that she has for the Kim parents is superficial, it's falsely placed. It should be her biological parents that have that love.
Instead they're left to feel like strangers to their own child.
It never sat right in their minds.
