PETER POV

one day later

after the funeral, we had to head home at some point. to be honest, it hurt sitting next to his gravestone. especially with the thought that i was at fault for his death. but i'm glad me and y/n talked.

it's been a while where we've actually 'hung out'. actually, it's been a while since me and y/n have really done anything.

i stare at my ceiling, until my phone buzzes on my chest. it's y/n. i basically jump upwards, and read the text.

wanna go skating?? <3

my face stretches into a wide grin, as i grab my board and quickly text back.

sure, see you soon :)

i rush down the stairs, skateboard under my arm and the first genuine smile I've worn since it happened.

"you're looking happy! seeing a certain someone?" may asks, flashing a smile.

"i guess," i roll my eyes playfully. "i'll see you later, may, love you!" i exclaim before walking through the door. i hear a small 'love you pete!' and i chuckle. off i go.

Y/N POV

i roll up and down ramps, chilly air blowing into my face, making my eyes sting. my phone blasts songs from a random playlist, and dry leaves in an almost naked tree rustle. my mind is blank. luckily. recently, i haven't liked being alone with my thoughts. that's why i asked pete to go out.

i hear the clattering of a skateboard hitting the floor, and wheels on the concrete ground. i look in the direction of the sound, and see a dark, tall figure coming towards me. but the fluffy, messy shadow of hair instantly tells me who it is.

i race towards him, and he hops off the board. as he gets closer, i can see his features. loose strands of hair encased his face, and his dimple shows as he smiles at me. we finally get close enough, and he cups me cheeks, catching my lips in a slow, but long kiss. he places his hands on my waist, holding me steady, and i throw my arms around his neck, and kiss him back deeply, grinning like a maniac.

we seperate, but stay in the same position. his breath fans my face, and i feel flustered and giddy for the first time in ages.

"so, how about some skating?" he asks softly. i nod slowly, and he takes his hands away from my hips, and i let go too.

it seems all negative thoughts have dissolved, and im finally finding some joy, even if it is only for a couple hours.

(~•~)

i lie down on top of a ramp, watching peter try, and fail, at performing an ollie. after a while of barely catching himself as he fell, he hit the floor, making me burst out into giggles.

he huffs, and places down his board. he looks towards me, shooting me a dirty look. he runs up the ramp and sits beside me.

i take my bag that was sitting in a slump next to me, and open it speedily. i take out a box of cigarettes, and look towards peter.

"want one?" i ask simply. his reply is a nod, and i take two out the box.

i hand him one, and he holds in next his mouth. i do the same, and shuffle over to peter, making the tips of our cigarettes almost meet. i flick the lighter open, and light both of our cigarettes at the same time.

he smiles, and takes a small drag. he takes it away from his lips, and exhales, smoke leaving his nostrils and mouth. i do the same, and we sit there for a while, in a comfortable silence.

after a while, our cigarettes are out, and we both out then out on the side of the ramp. i end up in his arms.

"i wish it was always like this" i mutter into his shirt as he strokes my hair.

he hums, "yeah. that would be amazing."

i close my eyes, savouring the moment.

even if it won't be like this forever, it can be like that for now. and that's okay.
